chapter 14-Riley's Story

Riley's P.O.V

Nightmare~~~

Walking into the house with my older sister Jess, dad came in. He sat on the chair and watched us talk. Mom was in the kitchen cooking dinner. Everything seemed great until policies or more like the SWAP team came barging in. I screamed in fear as they took my dad and mom. They held guns straight to them. Mom was scared and dad acted like he knew this would happen because he did. He pulled out a gun and shot the man, but dad got shot to. He fell to the ground and soon he wasn't moving. Me and my sister hid behind the counter. "What-what going on Jessie,w-what's ha-happened to dad and, and-"we stopped as we heard gun shots all over. We screamed in fear at the terrible noise of the gun shooting our parents. They grabbed us and took us away. "What happened?"I said. "it's okay kiddo we'll put you two in orphanages quickly before other cereal killers come and keep you as savages"he said. I stared at him. "What?"I was so confused. "There not your parents"

Nightmares over~~~

I woke up screaming. My mom came in with a worried expression. "Are you okay?" I says to me. I nodded, but tears came to my eyes. Dinah pulled into her and rocked me back and forth as I cried.

They weren't my real parents and they had lied my whole life. What will I tell Jess?

Mom took me downstairs with the others and I ate breakfast. I was still shaken from the nightmare. "What if they come and kidnap me?" I said nervously to my mom.

"Riley you said they were killed by the SWAP team, they won't come after you and Jess don't worry"she says chuckling.

I gave her a nervous but scared expression. She hug me and we walk into the living room. "We have the HALO Awards this thanksgiving week"Lauren says. They nodded and they went to practice while  We watch tv.

I sat next to Jess and curled my small legs to my chest. "I had a nightmare"I said to her and she looks at me happily. "What was it about"she says. "our parents, that were killed by the mean policies that took us to the orphanage"I said.

Jessica's smile went away as she cried. "don't cry for them! they aren't our real parents"I whisper yelled at her. she looks at me with a blank expression.

"Then who is?"She says and I sigh. "I-I don't know" "I really want to know"I said. She bidders and we watch tv.

After our mom's practice for next week's Awards show, we went out for ice cream, in the winter time. I sat by Abby at the booth and at my strawberry swirl ice cream with nuts.  I picked up my spoon and ate my ice cream slowly still thinking about the dream.

Two couples came in, the lady had really long light brown hair and hazel eyes and the man had blonde curly hair and blue eyes. For some reason they looked familiar but the memory seemed far away.

Jessica was watching them too. Then a little girl came following them from behind, she seemed three. The girl had light brown hair and hazel eyes just like her mother.

I stood up to go throw my ice cream away. I turned around and bumped into the lady I saw. She looked at me and smiled. "Hello what's your name ?" She said sweetly. "R-Riley" I said nervously. "Well Hey Riley, did you know you still had ice cream in your bowl"she says. "I nodded. "I don't like ice cream very much, you seem familiar, have I seen you before?" I said tilting my head to the side and trying to look cute.

"Maybe, bye Riles" she said and I gasped. I remember someone calling me Riles, and no one has ever called me that nickname except for my mother and sister.

"Are you my real mother?" I said but looked to see the lady was already gone and I was talking to my self. I felt hurt that if she could be my mother, why would she leave me? why would she leave with two stranger they'd call my parents when I was little, did they ever loved us?

Questions filled my mind. My dad, mom and sister. What if they were my real parents.
