Life, I have found, is like a dance. Everyone floats around each other sometimes beautifully in sync while other times catastrophically asynchronous. In order to maintain our place in the flow, it is crucial that we not be a much better or much worse dancer than all the rest. Society strives for excellence and rewards us for our achievements, but I have discovered that this encouragement has its limits. It is when we exceed these expectations to a level that is outside of the acceptable degree of variation that society attempts to harness or control rather than encourage us.
