*****
you came up behind me,
wrapped your arms around
my neck and covered
my eyes with your hands.
“guess who?” you asked.
and how silly, i thought,
it was to think that i would
not know you by the
feeling of your heartbeat
against my back.
-k.p.k
Ashton and I spend hours upon hours sitting in that small little coffee shop that warmed my heart. We talked about exes to favorite animals. Even though sometimes those two things have more things in common than we’d like to think. It was about six o’clock when we finally decided that we should probably leave. He had some sort of thing to go do, which I didn’t really pay attention to. I only payed attention to the way his lips moved as he talked or the way his adams apple bobbed as he laughed.
“Well, I’ll text you later, yeah?” Ashton said, holding my jacket out, waiting for me to put my arms through it.
“Sounds good.” I smiled to him as I put my arms in the coat and he grabbed his car keys and cellphone.
“We’ll have to do this again sometime.” He said while we walked out to our cars which with my luck were parked on two opposite sides of the very large parking lot that held for a very small coffee shop.
“Good night.” I smiled as I opened my car door and watched him start to walk away as he waved and returned the smile gesture of wishing a good night.
Sitting in my small car all by myself was usually a routine thing that was more normal than Saturday morning cartoons, but after spending hours with someone, it felt lonely. Which was a feeling I was more than accustomed to, it was never out of the norm. I was always lonely, I mean asides from the times when Trinity decides to talk to me.
Arriving home, I pull the keys out of the ignition and pay little attention to the goofy grin on my face. I easily climb the stairs to my apartment, opening the door I see something that really just wipes the smile straight off of my face. And when I say straight off my face, I mean I feel like I’m about to throw up all over our perfectly white drapes.
There Trinity sits on her knees, and with a guy above her. I’m sure you can just imagine whats going on here. It doesn’t take a genius. Trinity spots me and screams before pulling back and placing her hand over her mouth. The fully naked male just remains calm, staring at me. Awkward eye contact with the guy who your room mate just gave a blow-job to is probably one of the worst things ever. It was dead silent and if I could run away, I would.
“I’m so sorry.” I blurt before scurrying, closing the door behind me and pushing my hand over my eyes before scuttling to my room.
Slamming my bedroom door behind me, I take deep, relieving, breaths. I slowly sit on my bed and take my shoes off before pulling out the book I’d been reading earlier and laying back in bed.
Nearly an hour an a half later, I finish three chapters and when I go to fold down the page I can hear Ashton’s voice in the back of my mind so I grab a sticky note off of my nightstand and place it in my book to mark my spot as my phone goes off.
Ashton; night! it was a nice coffee date, maybe another tomorrow ‘round the same time?? ;)
My cheeks heat at the word ‘date’ and I can feel a smile growing on my lips as I reply with, ‘sounds like a plan :)’ and put my phone on silent.
The rest of the night only consists of laundry and sleeping. And also the occasional thoughts of a boy who has brown hair and pink tinted cheeks.
