Evelyn lightly knocked on the bedroom door with a plate of food in her other hand , ever since they got home Leo had been locked up in her bedroom since She saw Ethan Was visiting them
She didn't understand why her daughter held so much hostility towards her best friend who had been nothing but kind towards her since she was a baby.
Deckard on the other hand was very vocal about his hatred towards Him , Evelyn would just roll her eyes at her husband jealously as she will call it causing the British man to scoff at such a ridiculous accusation
" is he gone ?" Her small voice spoke from the other side of the door
Evelyn let out a deep sigh " he just left " she answered "can I come in"

she took her silence as a yes , opening the bedroom door she walks into the small bedroom spotting her daughter sitting at her desk that was placed in front of her bedroom window the sun was just beginning to set as blue and purple hues clouded the sky
" I've brought you dinner since you wouldn't come down when I had called you down earlier " Evelyn laid the full plate on the edge of the desk as her daughter kept her eyes on what seem to be her science homework , Evelyn slowly walked backwards until she felt her foot tap on the edge of the bed before taking a seat on top of the light blue comforter
Evelyn watched her daughter as the two sat in silence , she had grown so fast over the years , she remember how nervous and scared she was when she First found out she was pregnant and telling Deckard was a whole other level of nerves .
Neither of them wanted a family they love the exhilarating lifestyle of their work and their unique relationship they had built if that's what you would call it.
Deckard was in shock but another feeling overcame him in that moment as he looked upon the women he had grown to love over their years together Happiness . He kissed her Fiercely before placing their foreheads together as his eyes met green he spoke four very unexpected words Evelyn didn't see coming
Evelyn couldn't help but smile down at her necklace her fingers lightly played with the thin silver band around it
Soon enough Leo was born , she then understood what love at first sight was the moment her eyes landed on the small bundle that was wrapped in a hospital blanket , her dark head of hair that matched her own, her eyes tightly shut , she never seen anything more beautiful in her life. And made a promised to her that day to always keep her safe
And now here she was 9 years later her father stubbornness in full effect.oh how much she miss her little bundle of joy it was so much easier to get her out of her funk when she was younger.
" Why do you act like this when Ethan around??, I didn't raise you like this Leonora " Evelyn spoke up in her motherly tone wanting a real reason but was only met with silence
" did your father tell you to??"she adds, this caught Leo attention at the mention of her father, setting her pencil down she looked out the window " no " She simply replied

This caught Evelyn by surprise she furrowed her eyebrows together in confusion "I know that "
" does he! —every time he comes around he tries to act like he is, how was school? did you do your chores today? don't forget to brush your teeth before bed " she mocks

Leo spun around in her chair to face her mother , Evelyn could see tears treating a way out " I don't need him too I already have you and dad " she whispered the last part as a few tears fell down onto her check, Evelyn leaned over grabbing ahold of her daughter lightly pulling her off of the chair and into her arms in a tight embrace
" H-he's been gone too long w—what if something happened to him" Leo cried out
Evenly mentally flinch at that , she had to be honest that thought crossed her mind a million times a day since he left them last it always did when he left , but he always came back to them , and she didn't want Leo to be worried about that, this was the very first time she showed worried that something happened to her father. It never bothered her when She was younger but now she understood what they did was dangerous and they might not make it back home.
pulling away she look down at her daughter whipping away her tears stained cheek " Hey " Evelyn managed a smile getting her attention " have you not met your father? " Evelyn questioned as Leo looked up at her mother " as much as he likes to piss people off , nobody can kill him trust me I've tried " she joked, Leo smiled at that " Dont worry ,he will come home he always does " She assures her " Okay"
Leo managed a smile nodding her head " okay"
The two had made themselves comfortable on the small twin size bed as they laid in silence Evelyn comforting brushing Leo hair while Leo laid her head on her mother chest
" I have work tonight " Evelyn sighs breaking the silence , she hated having to leave, after the talk they just had about her worrying so much about Deck and now here she was about to leave
Leo head picked up to look at her mother " is it far?"
" in the city " Evelyn replies looking over at the clock seeing it was almost 8 she had to get ready
" you remember what to do, if something happens "
Leo nodded solemn
" don't forget Patrick watching he will alert you if there's someone on the prope-"
" I know mom " Leo interrupted her she been given the same speech whenever her mother had to leave for work
" sorry " she apologized with a sheepish smile " get some sleep ill see you in the morning for training bright and early "
" can't wait " Leo replied sarcastically before putting her arms around her mom in a tight embrace not knowing if this was the last time " Love you mom "
" love you too " she lightly kissed the top of her head before heading out " and eat your dinner"she adds before walking out the bedroom closing the door behind her ,
Evelyn leaned against it letting out a jagged breath praying to whatever god that she would come back home safe and sound . Glancing down at her watch she saw she needed to get ready for the job , removing herself from the door she walked down the hall to her bedroom to get dressed for the mission.
