❝Tonight will be the night that I'll fall for you over again.❞

- Fall For You (Secondhand Serenade)

Amethyst Hayes

"Amethyst! Can you come here for a minute? We need help on bringing up the castle!" Tracy shouted, using her hand to gesture towards the stage urgently. I nodded, before jogging towards the area I had promised to volunteer at. Tracy had asked me to help her for the following day's show that she was left in charge with, since Arabelle, who was originally in charge, went home sick. As a friend, I had agreed, gladly leaving behind my studies for the night.

Mrs. Wakers, the drama teacher gave me a smile as I jogged past the many rows of seats, before critiquing the position of one of the trees on stage. Suddenly a loud grunt was heard and I looked towards the direction, seeing Andrew and Tracy who had just placed down her clipboard, struggling to move the castle to it's rightful position.

"Wait, guys!" I yelled, rushing up the few steps towards the stage and reaching over to help them. "No need." Tracy smiled, and Luke, Jack's ex-boyfriend came running over to help. Honestly? Ex-boyfriends tend to be tense around their exes, but in Jack and Luke's case, they were back to friends. The reason behind their break-up wasn't that all cleared between even her own friends, but I didn't want to dig into Jack's personal life even though the questions were slowly drowning me.

"But..." I stuttered, watching them slowly make progress. "Wasn't I here to help you guys?"

"Just by standing there helps us alot." Andrew grinned, his face slightly scrunched in uncertainty.

Luke chuckled, and finally they managed to put it into place. Releasing a sharp huff, I turned around, accidentally bumping into someone. The person yelped and before I knew it I was on the ground apologizing.

"AMETHYST!" A voice boomed from the other side of the large room. Not taking any notice of the voice, I quickly picked up the pieces of paper scattered around the ground, the girl who I bumped with was smiling, "It's alright." She replied to my apologies, and as I looked up I saw her glance behind me as she quietly picked up the pieces of papers half-heartedly.

"AMETHY- Shit!" What happened next went in a flash. Luke had bursted into a fit of laughter with Andrew holding his stomach and laughing. Tracy only face-palmed, shaking her head. Jack had just gotten on stage, looking slightly confused. Mrs. Wakers was standing up, rolled her eyes and mouthed, 'youngsters', as Devan, who seemed to be the one calling me, tripped and rolled a few times until he came to a complete stop.

I gave the stack of papers back to the girl and rushed off the stage towards Devan. "Devan!" I yelled, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear as I ran.

He quickly sat upright and reached behind a seat. "Are.. you, oh-kay?" I said, genuinely trying to be worried but the laughs between my sentence was killing my intention as I squatted down, scanning him briefly before sitting down infront of him. Devan's face beamed, his dirty blonde hair tousled around from the previous fall. His hand was behind his back and he nodded towards his side. I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion at him, a playful smile still on my lips as I looked up before nearly choking on my own spit.

A white board was standing with black bold letters written on it that read-

I have Fallen for You, Amethyst Hayes.
Will you be My Girlfriend?

Cheesy? That's what Devan's made of. But it was enough to make me smile wide, and cover my mouth with my hand as I was speechless. Two checkboxes that said Yes, and No were drawn below. Devan shoved a bouquet of flowers infront of me at the same time as someone handed me a pen to mark my answer. Clutching the pen I shook my head, still rendered speechless. His smile faltered at my reaction, "See? I told you tripping over and rolling like dough would make me seem like an idiot." Devan grumbled to no one in particular.
