San carefully kicked his shoes off while scrolling through the comments of his recent Instagram post. He loved seeing how enthusiastic most of them were, it never got old watching his fans react to his pictures. In a way putting real effort into his Instagram account and every single picture he posted was the only thing he could do to give something back to them in return for all the incredible support he had received over the past few years. It still bothered him that he wasn't able to accept interview requests or organize meet ups, so he felt he owed them at least as much as to genuinely try his very best at everything he was doing.

When he stumbled upon the comment of a familiar username, he smiled. Stay safe, it's late. He had read similar comments just seconds ago but knowing that Wooyoung didn't seem to take his early departure from their chat yesterday too seriously lifted his spirits. A comfortable warmth spread through his body at the realization that his chat partner actually cared about him. Although hosting his weekly fan meetings in a chat room took away some of the loneliness his condition brought with him, no one else seemed to be interested enough to get to know him properly.

He understood. Of course he understood, he wasn't an easy person to get close to. Nonetheless, that didn't change his wish that someone, someday, would have the patience to give him enough time to open up. That's why he cherished every single one of his fans out there and why having a short conversation with a stranger could affect him in a way that most people would call naive.

"Hey, San, what are you smiling at?" Jongho's voice pulled him back into reality. His younger brother slowly leaned closer to him curiously peaking over his shoulder in order to get a look at the phone screen's content. San hastily pushed the power off button and shoved the phone into his jeans' back pocket then slung an arm around Jongho and dragged him into their kitchen.

"Nothing," he played it off, "but how about you be a great little brother and make us some midnight supper? I'm starving after that trip half across the town."

"Only because I know you're lying and I would have cooked anyway."

San smirked at his victory not being surprised at Jongho catching his lie but celebrating that he would be the one watching while Jongho prepared dinner. With a smug grin he slumped onto one of the kitchen chairs and teasingly patted Jongho's shoulder as the younger walked by. "Good boy."

Jongho only rolled his eyes at his brother's predictability. Being used to San's slighty kinky side - unfortunately he had to deal with it every day because they lived together - he knew he had two options of responding. The first one was simply ignoring it, which didn't exactly make for much entertainment but it kept San's comments on a bearable level. The second and more amusing method consisted of effectively annoying him back. For tonight, he chose option number two.

"This is how I feel about you, Twiligh-"

"I swear to god, Jongho, if you start singing that song again..." San's voice had switched from melodic playfulness to an almost threatening growl in a heartbeat. This particular song had plagued him for the past few days and even if he had first loved it when Jongho had introduced it to him, his flatmate singing the same song over and over again had eventually killed his enthusiasm for it.

His brother pouted yet San recognized the hidden glint in his eyes. "But hyung, you said you liked the song."

"I did. However, listening to Eighteen all day, every day and having only this one little snippet of lyrics stuck in my head makes even the sanest person go crazy," he sighed. He had sincerely liked the song until it didn't seem to leave him alone.

"It's Ateez, San. Plus, my vocals are amazing and you know it."

San couldn't help but smile. Yes, Jongho had an incredible voice and he still couldn't understand why he had picked acting over a singing career. On the other hand he himself wasn't to bad at singing either but literally no one besides Jongho was aware of his secret talent due to very obvious reasons. In spite of his slowly rising bitterness about his own situation, San responded to his brother's teasing grin with a genuine smile.

"Yes, that is very true."

I was quite nervous to post this because it's the first chapter in which you'll actually get to read some of my prose and not simply some messages... I'm quite confident in my German writing abilities but I'm not so sure about it in English. I obviously don't expect this to be perfect but I really hope it turned out okay and well enough for you to be able to read it in a fluent and natural way without any major irritations disturbing your reading flow.
Please comment what you think about it, it would be really helpful :) Thank you in advance <3
