Renee felt her heart beating a mile a minute as the knocking on the door grew louder and louder. "Who is that Charles?" Renee asked, her eyes squinted as she stared her father down. He looked nervously from the door to her, looking as if he were stuck in a spotlight. As the seconds ticked by she found herself growing more and more agitated with his silent act.
"You can yell up a storm any other time but somebody is actively attempting to burst through our shitty front door and you can't even manage to breathe properly!" Renee whispered harshly, her brown eyes roaming over to the door as she slowly stepped towards it. "D- don't Renee don't." Charles stuttered out, his cracking voice seeming small and weak compared to how it had sounded earlier in the night.
"Shut the hell up!" She yelled, as the knocking grew more aggressive. Renee didn't have a chance to look through the peephole before the door burst open sending splinters of wood across the living room floor. Three large men immediately stepped passed the threshold, one pointing a glock in Charles face causing him to block up and piss himself. Renee was too shocked to react as another man, a dark skinned dread head stared in her direction with a sadistic smile on his handsome face.
"Charles, Charles, Charles, did you really think you could hide nigga? You thought I wouldn't find you? You thought you could play me for a goofy Charles?!" The man holding the gun yelled, taking a gloved hand and slapping her father upside the head. Renee's eyes widened as Charles whimpered, holding his nappy head as the hits became more vicious. By the time the man had stopped yelling and hitting Charles he was breathing heavy.
"Tie his ass up and get the bitch." He closed his eyes as if the activity of beating Charles half to death was just that tiring before taking a seat on the sofa. The third man who looked to be younger than the other two took a hold of Renee's shoulders as she fought and kicked against him. He put her in a headlock with no hesitation as he dragged her over to the couch, leaving the second man to tie her father into one of their kitchen chairs.
Renee began to wonder how exactly they'd gotten into this fucked up situation, it felt like a lucid dream. Only two hours ago she'd gotten home ready to shower and watch reruns of The Fresh Prince. Her father like usual came home right after her, drunk off his ass and angry about any and everything. Charles had without hesitation taken his anger out on Renee, and from there a screaming match ensued. It didn't last long because a few minutes later there was hurried knocking at the door.
