He was distracted for a moment, so I took this as an opportunity to swing again, this time landing on his nose. He charged at me and took me down to the floor, to which I flipped straight back up again and went to land another hit, before he caught my arm and twisted it backwards. You see street fighting is different to boxing or wrestling or any of that bullshit. You step into that ring and as long as you're just using your bare hands, you can do whatever it takes to fuck that person up until they're knocked out or times up. I'm intending to knock the poor bastard out but I'll take either option as long as I'm the one remaining victorious. I wrenched my arm from out of his grip and elbowed him in the stomach, before landing an uppercut. My fists were already pretty fucked up, but so was his face so I'll take it as a positive. I had a second to analyse his face before punching him again and there was something about him that I couldn't help but recognise. Maybe I had seen him around him before, although he does seem fairly new to street fighting and I haven't been here in a few weeks. Before I got carried away, and lead to my own downfall I snapped out of it and wrapped my arms around his leg, pulling him to the ground, before I jumped on him, and punched him in the face repeatedly, until I was interrupted in my sixth punch by the sound of the horn blaring out yet again.
I stepped down from the ring and went to collect my two-hundred dollars. I saw Cynthia, Avani and Madi running up to me excitedly. Madi picked me up and span me around in her arms, which I'm not surprised she could do as I am pretty petite.
As we walked back to the car, Avani kept on checking my fists and my face, in a motherly fashion to make sure that I'm okay and Cynthia and Madi kept gushing about how "badass" I was.
"Dude, you literally kicked his ass!" exclaimed Cynthia as she gripped onto Madi's arm.
"Did you see his dumb smirky face? I wanted to kick it in myself" Madi laughed as she got into the front seat. I jumped into shotgun, connected myself to the aux, took my mask off and put Avril Lavigne on because what the hell. (Get it?). We all drove back to my house as we decided to stay there for the night as we all had clothes for school tomorrow anyways and they had their spare toothbrushes in my bathroom as they all practically live here.
My house wasn't much. It was quite small but not like a tiny little apartment. It's just a lot less than most people could afford. I still had my own bathroom though luckily because I always spend the most time in the shower and I wake up earliest for school so mum and I swapped rooms when I turned thirteen. My room was average sized. It fits a double-bed, a desk and a wardrobe in there but it wouldn't fit much else, I can't complain though; loads of people don't even have a roof over their heads so I'm grateful for what I have.
We spent the night doing tiktoks, watching our favourite films on Netflix and ordering food, which is what we usually do when we are all together and we usually get to bed before 2am.
The next day Madi woke me up by spilling water on my face shouting "you're gonna be late!", even though it was only seven o' clock. Normally we can't shout this loud in my house because my brother or my mum might be sleeping, but Jada stayed at a friends house last night and mum stayed the night at the diner, which she's been doing a lot recently.
By the time I was ready, Madi, Cynthia and Avani all looked bored and ready to go. They had some cereal which they catered to themselves as per usual, while I got dressed and ready. I wore a black plain crop top, a plaid skirt which reached mid-thigh and belt and black airforces. I kept my hair down and put a beanie over the top and kept my makeup light.
Avani has a similar style to me but she's just more... out there. Avani's more comfortable in what she wears so she wears bold colours and sometimes extravagant makeup, which I could never do outside the house. Madi is more cutesy and kind of basic but with a twist, when it comes to her clothes and Cynthia wears quite basic clothes, but makes it look not basic. I don't know how she does it. She can make a hoodie and leggings look amazing.
It's lunch time now. We were sat at our usual table, talking and being idiots like usual, when the 'popular boys' walked in. I don't see what's so good about them. They're just a bunch of basic teen boys, with decent appearances, who fuck girls about. I don't get the hype. Looking at them makes me feel sick. Chase, the boy Cynthia's obsessed with, was a part of their group. I've never spoken to any of them other than Payton and Noen and Chris, who were the only nice ones in that group that I could stand to be around. Payton's still a fuckboy but he's a sweet guy when you're just friends with him. If I was a parent I would keep my daughter miles away from him though; he's the type of guy who seems innocent but could really break your heart by the click of his fingers. Noen's my chemistry partner. He's really sweet aswell. He's the only boy in that group who doesn't fuck girls about for fun, besides Chris (Madi's boyfriend) but he used to be like that before he met Madi.
There was one boy in that group, who was wearing a hood so I couldn't see what he looked like, which was strange. Those boys liked to flaunt their good looks, so it was odd that one of them wanted to hide. I watched as he slowly lifted the hood off of his face as he ate his food. He was covered in bruises. His lips were cut, his left eye was black, and his jaw was purple and blue. It struck me. That's the boy who I fought last night. Man, I fucked him up. This is why I recognised him. He goes to my school.
"Madi, C, Avani, do you guys recognise him?" I pointed over discretely, with my fork as I took another bite of my burger. "He was the guy I fought last night, what's his name?" I whispered so other people couldn't hear. I didn't need the whole school finding out about my private life.
"You fought Anthony Reeves?!" Cynthia knew to whisper shout. She knew how much shit I'd get in if anyone found out I fight. Their faces were full of shock.
"How do you know it's him though?" asked Avani.
"Look at how fucked up his face is. Those are new bruises. and I could see half of his face while we were fighting. I knew I recognised him, I just didn't know where from. He has the same cocky smirk that he had last night. It's him" I'm definite. I'm for sure its him. I need to wait for him to be alone for me to confront him. I know it sounds stupid but I don't know why but something about him intrigues me. I want to know more.
