Your hugs used to be warm,
Reminiscent of the saturation on our Winter Carnival pictures
Of the two of us falling on each other, as if our own two feet were not enough to support what we felt.
Oh, how in love we were,
Hearts entangled like fresh laundry, waiting to be filled -
And the air steadily grew frostier, it might have been 10 degress I think, yet somehow the shoulder you gave me today in the kitchen was colder.
We bared ourselves to each other but what are bodies with souls ensnared -
Entrapped behind bars, higher than the wifi we used to share in the windowless apartment downtown,
Do you remember?
Oh, how in love we were,
Laying on a creaky bed inhaling disease
The smoke was considerably thicker than the fumes of the BBQ we hosted yesterday -
Yet I swear I could see you much better in those old days.

I remember faded colors, of denim jackets and skittle stains
That used to stick to our fingers, but never the colour blue on mine, not after the day you once saw me pick them out.
I wonder, would you know the difference between  my pale pink anti depressants and purple poison if I asked you now?
Oh, how in love we were.

And if wishes and night whispers wove the tapestry of our world, maybe we still would be.
Honey, you don't take my breath away anymore
But I'm finding it harder now to breathe in these confines we have built for ourselves, you and i

Oh, how in love I thought we were
Wish I could still say the same.
