Prologue

November 19, 2010 11:02pm

I sat in my office at the bureau in New York City, New York. The time is 11:02. I watch the clock and the phone at the same time waiting for someone to call or waiting for it to be long enough for me to realize that no one is going to call. Maybe that little voice inside my head is right. That voice is always there. It gets very annoying. But sometimes it actually gives me good advice that I don’t even bother to listen to and end up regretting it when the punishment comes.

I look at the clock again. Its 11:07. Only 7 minutes has gone by and I’m ready to through this phone at the window. Suddenly, finally it rings. I answered, “Hello?” It turned out to be my wife calling me nagging me about when I'm coming home. I want to so bad but I feel like something is going to happen, someone is going to call, someone is going to put me on another government conspiracy investigation.

Did I mention I worked for the new Government Secrecy Investigation? It’s a new branch that only the New York City office has come up with. Risky, but risky is my middle name.

We believe that the people should have a right to know about what’s going on in our world. What’s going to happen? What are they hiding? I’ve been asking myself that question every night I’ve been here sitting at this very desk waiting for someone to call.

Chapter 1: Still No Call… but a mission

I decided to pull up the internet browser. I searched: uncovered government conspiracies. A lot of stupid stuff came up, but sometimes that stuff we think is stupid could actually help us. Such as the voice I never listen to.  I found one thing. It was called: Code of Columbus.

It read:

The Code of Columbus has been a government conspiracy that the government has been hiding for generations. Government even from when the natives were here. The Code of Columbus is theorized to be a government secret stating that the “City of Gold has not been found yet.” When Columbus came to North America he found the “City of Gold” When he went back King Ferdinand demanded to hold it a secret. He didn’t want people from his kingdom going off on their boats to the Aztec people stealing their gold for themselves. Instead King Ferdinand wanted the gold for himself secretly. He sent Columbus off to “explore” and all of the town’s people waved good bye and good luck. They told people Columbus had gotten lost but still managed to find his way back forgetting how he got their so none of the town’s people would know where to find the gold. King Ferdinand had discussed this with other Kings around Europe. It passed on until King George III’s time. When people sailed over to North America to begin the colonies he told all of his redcoats to find the city of gold and make sure no other king tries to steal it. Later after the Aztec was wiped out a Kings order was to keep the gold there and for it to never be spoken about amongst peasants. Only government officials will know. Its been passing down ever since this very day, Now what people say is that the government has decided to use it. Many absurd ideas were ….

-          they were building an underground area for themselves made of gold

-          they were using the gold for their own good

This is how I knew. I knew that somehow, somewhere this story had to be true. I then quickly packed my stuff, ran to the building garage, got into my car, and quickly went home. As I was in the car I called my wife Judith and told her the link to the website I was on and told her to print out all of the information. After we had hung up I called my assistant Agent Jack Regis. We have been friends since the first grade. How lucky are we to get accepted to the same bureau office.

I had told Jack to meet me at the office early tomorrow morning. I finally reached my partial destination: home. My next one was bed. I had to take my mind off of everything or else it would keep me up all night. Stay in bed Mark. There it was the voice. This time I actually agreed with the advice that it had given me. Sometimes I wonder if we were meant to ignore those voices so we can be warned about a mistake were about to make and then learn from it. I then fell fast asleep.

The next morning I had woken up to breakfast in bed. Don’t eat go to the office. There the voice was again. I feel like there was something I was supposed to do, voice to mind helping me remember? No answer? Wow! The first time I ask the voice the speak it doesn’t. After breakfast I looked at my cell phone. The time read 8:00am. Oh no I remembered. I was supposed to meet Jack at the office early at 7am. I felt stupid and embarrassed. I felt like a looser. I felt like a moron. Again the voice beat me.

After getting dressed I got into my car and headed to the office. When I got there I noticed I forgot my garage parking lot card at home. I ended up having to park in the community parking lot 2 blocks away. When I got inside the office it was 9am. Everyone was there. That’s how late I was. Going in early with Jack at 7 would mean no interruptions from other people and our boss Mr. Freedmen. We could finally get a case done fast. Plus it’s hard to concentrate when you have the dispatchers and the database workers in one big room constantly talking.

Jack and I sat down in my office. I showed him the papers I had Judith print last night. He then stared at me and told we have a serious case on our hands. I nodded. We both had that look that we usually get when we feel like we have a brilliant idea that is probably going to end up in total disaster but we should still go for. We agreed we should take a plane to Washington D.C and go find all of the major locations secret government meetings are held.

He then reminded me that there not all in Washington D.C. I then remembered a secret meeting they had here in New York City at the Plaza Hotel. That was our first destination. We arrived at the scene at about 11:10am. We went to the front desk and held up our badges. I told the lady that we were wondering if there are any government meetings going on here, she nodded and pointed down the hall then told me I can’t go in. That gave me and Jack the signal that it was a secret meeting.

We walked farther away from the desk so the lady couldn’t here our conversation. I told him I should go through the ceiling vent and he should go through the floor vent. We agreed and then walked back to the front desk. I asked the lady if we could go check out the closest Air conditioning/heating facility in the hotel. She pointed toward an elevator and told us to press F.C for facility control.

When we got to the facility control room there was a guy name Bill. He showed us a map of where all the vents lead. I knew this guy from a previous time we did this. He was against the government keeping secrets as well. He opened up a ceiling vent and I climbed in then he opened up a floor vent and in went Jack. We were then both on our separate ways until we reached the grand conference room.
