"He fucking broke up with me! Tonight of all days! I bought him gifts and everything, we could have made it to our 9 month anniversary! Can you fucking believe it?!" Richie shouted over the music playing. None of the losers were dancing either because Richie was still fucked up from what happened 4 months ago and to top it off, Victor broke up with him before this whole graduation party Richie put together at his house. Stan wasn't even supposed to be there since he wasn't a senior, but he wanted to be there for his friends because he wasn't sure how much longer he'd be able to hang out with them until they go off to college. Stan even decided to bring his gifts for Richie as well.
"Richie it's gonna be alright. He was an asshole, he didn't deserve you." Eddie said as he tried to comfortingly pat Richie's back. Richie was pretty much sobbing at this point. "I'm gonna go upstairs to get cleaned up." Richie mumbled before he hopped up off the couch and darted toward the stairs. Stan stared the entire time before glancing at the others who nodded toward the stairs as if they were silently telling him to go after him. So that's exactly what he did.
"Richie? Richie?! Rich- oh." Stan called out as he checked each room he passed, finally getting to Richie's room where the boy was sitting cross legged on his bed, bawling into his hands. Richie looked up at Stan and quickly wiped his eyes, smiling at him as a way to tell him to come in. Stan closed the door behind him before slowly making his way over to Richie's bed, looking around his room as he did so. "I brought you something." Stan said with a smile as he handed Richie the gifts. Richie looked into the bag and pulled out a mixtape of songs labeled 'Musical Suggestions' and a letter that Richie was sure he'd have to read later when his vision wasn't clouded with tears.
"That's so sweet, Stan the man. Thank you so so much." Richie muttered as he pulled Stan into a tight hug. Stan hugged back awkwardly and when they pulled apart Richie sniffled again. "Do you wanna talk about it?" Stan asked hesitantly. Richie scoffed and rolled his eyes "Talk about what exactly? About how my boyfriend, oh sorry EX boyfriend, was lying to me about being different from his asshole friends? How the whole school calls me a slut and a teacher's pet because of what Henry said?"
"Is it true?" Stan queried, though he immediately regretted asking afterward. It was too late to take it back now though. "What he said... is it true?"
Richie sighed and looked into Stan's eyes. "Yes. It's fucking true. Is that what you wanted to hear?" Richie admitted, making Stan's eyes widened. Neither of them said anything for a moment. "You're probably disgusted by me now."
"I'm not. It doesn't automatically make you a shitty person because you were worried about failing. Everyone worries about failing." Stan replied in a duh tone. He knew it was none of his business, but he asked anyway. "Was it your first time? You know, with your teacher?" Stan asked as he averted his gaze from Richie and fiddled with the bedding underneath him. The dark haired boy scoffed again, but this time he laughed as well. "Your bluntness amazes me, Stanley Uris." Richie said with a small grin before he laid back and sighed, his hair splayed out on the pillow and arms lazily placed above his hair.
"Why couldn't a guy like you have liked me instead?" Richie sighed out, catching Stanley off guard. "I'm sorry, what?" Stan cupped a hand behind his ear. He wasn't sure if he'd heard him correctly. Richie giggled at that. "You know, smart, funny, not a complete dickwad..." Richie explained, making both of the boys laugh this time. Then without thinking twice about it Stan said as clear and confident as he could, "I did. I still do."
