regrets ~ haechan x reader

eight

beep. beep. beep. 

i opened my eyes slowly because of sudden blinding light

'where am i?' i thought, as i slowly sat up and took in my surroundings

i felt something on my hand so curiously peered at it to see what it was

another hand?

i slowly trailed my eyes up towards the person's face to see if i knew them. 

MY MOTHER? 

she was asleep and i could see the tear stains running down her face. 

i remembered why i was there in that moment... the memories of haechan and i's fight flashing through my still fragile mind

i was awake now after who knows how long, sure... but everything feels... different?

where was the life that i remembered?

gazing out the small window of the room i was in, i could see the trees... but they lacked the color they once had

why was everything so bland? why did everything feel so... sad?

i gently shook my mother's body in an attempt to wake her up and groaned when she didn't

'she probably needs the sleep' i thought and instead pressed the button to call for a nurse

in an instant, a short, red haired nurse hobbled into the room and widened her eyes as she saw my awake state

"you're awake!"

i nodded slowly and eyed her as if not fully believing that myself

she hurried out of the room and brought back something on a small plate

"here, you should eat a little something," she said and smiled sadly

i gave her a small smile back and stared down at the plate of food now in front of me

i was pretty sure that hospital food was supposed to look bad but it felt even worse... the old Y/N would try anything no matter how bad it looked but now i wasn't so sure

i picked up my spoon and dipped it into the bowl of yogurt and berries in front of me, then placed it into my mouth and...

it tasted like absolutely nothing... 

i put down the spoon and looked around the room some more, noticing the slow ticking of the clock on the wall and the generic paintings of random ink splatters, before slowly falling back into the sleep that was calling me
