"Rehan? Who?" I said totally not expecting the Rehan but anyways.
"What? He did? Wow. Touché" I said without a spark of interest.
Rehan is nothing to me anymore. And to know he is engaged, my mood just worsened.
"Hey... Um can I call you later? Yeah deuces" I said.
I put my phone down only for it to ring again.
"Yes hello, Dian residency" I said while checking my wishlist.
"Hi" the voice on the other side said.
"Um hello. Can I ask you what's your purpose?" I asked while going through my stuff.
"Rehan"
I stood still. This is the second time he has called me. With the same hint of curiosity, I pressed it further.
"Rehan?" I asked, crossing my fingers, I hope he is not him.
"How many Rehan do you know?" The voice said.
"Hey" I said staring blankly at the wall in front of me.
"So how's it been?" He said.
"How do you think?" I said.
"Without me? Boring!" He said.
I chuckled. I guess he is right.
"Aren't you thinking too high of yourself?" I giggled.
"Oh please. Don't play ' I don't know you ' game" he snorted.
"Oh please. Same to you" I teased him.
"So any boyfriend? Oh maybe a girlfriend?" He asked. I can totally visualise him, he is probably wiggling his eyebrows right now.
"Boyfriend no? I'm pretty sure, no to the girlfriend" I chuckled.
"So did you hear any news?" He asked. His voice suddenly silent.
"Yes" my smile faded.
He still has that effect on me.
"So are you gonna..." He stopped.
"Do you want me to?" I asked.
Probably not a good idea.
"I don't know" he said
I shook my head. This was expected. He never completes his sentence neither he answers truthfully.
"It's alright to say no, Rehan. I understand" I said while closing my eyes. Hoping the pain doesn't come again. That was a punctured hope.
"I want you there. But..." Will he ever complete his one sentence.
"But you also don't want me there, do you?" I said while smiling to myself.
"I don't know. Can we meet?" He asked suddenly.
I dropped my pen. What does he want me to do? Forget him? Or forgive him?
"I don't know" this time there was a long silence.
Neither of us tried to say something.
"I want to meet you before my marriage, one last time, as a friend" he said. His voice a little hoarse than before.
"I don't know Rehan. What if your fiancee took it the other way?" I rubbed my temples. Lately I have been having too much of headache.
"Please" he pressed further.
"Alright" I said when my pain subsided.
"Place and time you decide" he said rather more cheerfully.
"I'm in Spain. You know" I said while laughing.
"I know. Your friend updated me to that. I'm on my way to the hotel of Spain" he said.
"What? You already knew I would say yes?"
