I woke up in a strange and cold place not knowing how I got here. I get up with this strange pain in my head. Then their was gunfire coming from every direction. That's when things started to come back to me. There was a war between the United States and Russia and that a grenade blast knocked me out. I had blood covered all over me. There was blood, bodies, and guts everywhere. Somebody was trying to help me up, then blood splatters all in my face. He fell to the ground, a bullet had been put through his head. I got up and took his gun which was a AR and started running towards the allied forces. I turn around to see what was happening and I see a Russian soldier sprinting towards me with a knife out screaming. I raise my gun and then took the shot. He fell and blood sprayed everywhere. I turn around and start running again. As I am running I happen to hear someone call for help. I stop in my tracks and turn to see my friend Brad. He was shot in the legs and was not able to move. He was bleeding out and fast. I thought for a moment about what to do. I was scared and did not know exactly what to do. But I had to help him. I ran towards him and a Russian soldier sees me and starts firing at me. Brad looks at me with complete fear and says,
"Here take this"
he hands me a grenade.
"There is a sniper tower to your left. We can't get out of here unless you take out that damn tower."
I look at him and not knowing what to say I just nod. I start crawling towards the tower and I happen to see a opening where I can throw the grenade in, but it was very small. I only have one grenade which means I only have one shot to do this or we both won't make it back and probably be captured and tortured to death. I pull the pin of the grenade and throw it in the hole. It explodes and guts spilled all out of the hole. The tower starts coming down towards me and I start sprinting away back to Brad and slid under cover next to him. Brad was looking at me in complete shock and asked,
"How did you do that. It was a tiny hole?"
I respond,
"I don't know I just pulled the pin, looked for the right opening and angle and then threw it in."
He thanked me and says to me
"My legs, they were shot, I can't move them."
I pick him up and throw him over my shoulders and start running towards the allied forces. We made it back on allies ground but were still being shot at. I sat Brad down and told him,
"Wait here I'm going to help them. I will be right back."
He nods
I start running towards the allies and I asked,
"Whats the problem." A soldier responds,
"There are enemy soldiers in the forest but we can't see them. They keep taking out our soldiers. If we are going to stop them then we need to pull something out of our ass and now."
I take my weapon and head towards the forest quietly and there was about 40 enemy soldiers against 15 of our soldiers. I get behind them and then took them out one by one. I would sneak behind them, then stab them and hold their mouths shut so they couldn't scream. I get to the last person and took him out. Then I walked out with my hands up for the allies to know I am a friendly. They all started cheering for me and patting me on the back and thanking me. I return to Brad and see him bleeding out. I threw him back over my shoulders and started sprinting as fast as possible to the allied base. I make it back in time and give Brad to the medics. They take him and bring him to the medical tent. They came back to me and told me he was going to make it and that I have saved his life and asked if I knew him. I respond saying,
"Yes he is a close friend, his name is Brad."
The doctor said,
"Well Brad is alive and well because of you and he gets to go home and see his family, if he decides to go home."
I thanked him and walk away thinking to myself,
Wow I saved someone's life, I am a hero.
The next day I came back to the medical tent to check on Brad and when I got there, they were getting him in a wheelchair. I went towards him and asked,
"How are you doing Brad." Brad responds,
"Good but I won't be able to walk for a few days but once I get better I will come back and fight by your side."
I ask,
"Why don't you just go home and see you're family and live your life at home."
Brad responds,
"Because you saved my life now I need to return the favor."
I thank him and help him out of the medical tent and then he thanked me and started heading to his barracks. I was walking around for a little bit and people I saved today were thanking me and patting me on the back saying,
"Great job Thomas you saved so many peoples lives today."
I head to my barracks to get some rest and then lay down surprised with what I have done today and thinking to myself,
I saved so many peoples lives I saved my friends life, I need to go back in and help again and fight for my country.
I go to sleep ready to go back in the war the next day.
