You sigh, unbuckling as you lean over to open the door. You grab the handle, swinging the jeep door open whilst you step out.
The mansion towers above, almost intimidating with the way it's almost entirely covered with fog from the view down below. You mumble to yourself, knowing that this will probably be the biggest waste of time in the history of Deerville, but you know you have to do it for the sake of your police career.
You walked to the large gates that stand infront of the various slopes that climb up to the top of the mountain, shoving against them to see if they were unlocked. As expected, they aren't. As you turn to leave, you hear something descend from the fog that hovers above and around you.

"Hello!"
You spin around to see a pale blue-skinned girl with blue hair, wearing a light blue dress.
You stagger back a bit, but gain your standing after a few moments. You realize that you can't go back now, and that you're officially trapped in this place for the investigation.
"I am Spooky! Can you, humble policeman, make it through a thousand rooms of my Jumpscare Mansion?"
She glanced at your badge on your jacket as she spoke.
You reluctantly accept her offer to traverse the entirety of the mansion.
"It might not even be a thousand... I don't really know, u-uh... just-just go. The mansion's doors are unlocked ahead for you!"
"Have fun!"

With that, the ghost girl hovers upwards into the sky, disappearing moments later. You step forwards, shoving the gates. This time, they swing right open and allow you to step inside the extensive courtyard below the mountain.
You take a deep breath, and then begin to embark up the various slopes around the mansion that slowly wrap upwards. You see various notes scattered on the ground, and you read over a few of them as you keep going on your upwards journey.

"Day One
I have found a spoopy hause of gosts."

You chuckle at the terrible writing of the author of the note, and then continue on your journey upwards. Fog swirls around you, and the winds slowly begin intensifying the higher you go up the slopes. Eventually you can hear the winds speeding past you, and you hunch forward as to not be blown all the way back down to your death.
You begin to speed up your pace, noticing that you were almost at the top of the slopes. At this point, you're hunched over whilst jogging up the slopes, nearly tripping a few times in your haste.
You grab the ledge of the final slope, and climb over. You sprint upwards, the winds beginning to die down as you see another set of gates infront of you. They lead into yet another courtyard, and you walk inside. Torches light up what appears to be the doors of a tunnel entrance, and the towering mansion is to your left.
You think that it can't take too long, and you begin walking towards the mansion's doors. You jog up the stairs, and swing open the front doors of the mansion, stepping into a room with two staircases, a few windows near the roof, and torches. As you take in what appears to be the environment of the main lobby, you hear the door behind you make a clicking noise.
You walk over to it and try to open it, but to no avail. You realize that you're now going to have to go through the entire mansion, and there's no way back now. You can only go forwards now....

You walk to the door infront and swing it open as you step into the next room. It was a long corridor with what seemed like a turn up ahead, and you begin to make your way down it. As you turn, a popout swings into your face while making an ear-splitting screeching noise. You cover your ears and slam into the wall, your ears ringing from the noise in the echoing hallway.
You shove yourself off the wall and keep walking. Maybe it was just a thing added in to try and scare you. Besides, the most it could do is give you a heart attack. But the most important thing at the moment was finding the missing person. They were a male, about 24. Some said they were a history enthusiast that entered the mansion to figure out its secrets, and then never returned. You expected them to be somewhere nearby, definitely not at Room 1000 by this point. That wouldn't make sense.
While you had discussed the investigation inside your mind, you had eventually arrived in Room 25. Nothing seemed off, but there was a group of windows and a few beds against the walls. You stare out the windows for a moment, but it's just the usual rain falling down on the mansion. Every now and then there's a strike of thunder and lightning, but it's obviously not much. You continue onwards for a while.
You walk into Room 30, and see a large computer terminal inside the room. The rest of the room is fairly dark, and the red light emitted by the terminal is essentially the only lighting the entire room has. You walk up to the keyboard, taking a look at the screen. There seems to be blood splattered on it, and the top-right reads "CAT-DOS Operating System". On the middle-left side, there's a few text boxes that read "KNOWN SPECIMENS", "IN-TESTING SPECIMENS", "KNOWN MONSTERS", "MODIFY HOUSE LAYOUT", and "SHUT DOWN". The rest of the screen is a basic red color.
You click on In-Testing Specimens, and are taken to a page where it has a few entries in what seems to be a list. The list reads as follows:
SUBJECT 1
SUBJECT 2
SUBJECT 3
SUBJECT 4
SUBJECT 5
SUBJECT 6
You click on "SUBJECT 5", and are taken to a page with the image of what seems to be a cross between a large spider and a caterpillar. The subject is listed as attacking via method of poisonous bites, which tells you one thing. This place is trying to figure out ways to kill whoever ends up wandering in. That means it's a murder house, and the missing person may as well be dead.
As soon as you realize this, you begin to run back to the door you came from. You realize the handle is.. gone. You sigh, and just continue into the next room without bothering to shut down the OS.
Eventually, you arrive in Room 50 a bit later. It seems to be an elevator with two windows that lead to dirt outside, and a door frame infront that seems to have no door. The door handle has already disappeared behind you, meaning you'll have to go down from here. You glance at a poster on the wall that has a cat ontop a box reading "STAY POSITIVE! KEEP GOING!".
You shrug it off, then notice a cross. There seems to be a lighter next to it, and you take the lighter and ignite the cross. Somehow, you get the sense you've "saved" inside this room, and that if you get killed you'll simply return to this room.
You shrug it off, and walk to the doorframe. A button sits there, so you take one last glance around and press the button. The elevator groans as it begins to slide down to the next floor below, the lights occasionally flickering.
