AUTUMN'S P.O.V
RING! RING! RING!
I slap at my bedside table, trying to hit that annoying alarm. The blaring continues as I scrunch my eyes up, refusing to open them.
RING! RING! RING!
I sigh and give into the sound. I open my eyes and gently press the button on the alarm. The sound immediately stops.
Good, I think. Now I might be able to sleep.
I turn on my other side, away from the alarm and pull the cover up to my chin. I smile as I finally start drifting off again.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
I growl at the sound. I toss my blanket off to the side and slip my feet to the carpet floor. I rub my eyes and make my way to my apartment door.
I stand on my tip-toes and look out of the peephole. I see the normal male that always comes up.
I roll my eyes and go back to flat feet. I take a step back and unlock my door, waving slightly at the taller person in front of me.
"Hey, Doug," I yawn.
"Hi, Autumn."
Doug has a few inches on me, like a foot. He has short, black hair that's always parted. His chin is super sharp and his eyes glint a darker shade of what they are: grey. Today he has a white button down shirt, black skinny jeans, and shiny, black dress shoes. His broad shoulders are tense and his wide hands fidget with each other.
I yawn again and raise a brow.
"Doug, it's legit six a.m. Unless there's an angry zombie army downstairs about to come in and eat whatever's in my skull, you best have a good excuse for waking me up before six-twenty," I threaten.
He grins, and frowns. "No, there's no zombie army."
"Good," I say. "I'm going to bed."
I try closing the door, but his strong hand wedges itself between the door frame and the door itself. I glare at him and he looks at me apologetically.
He sighs. "But we do have to talk."
I raise my brow again. I lean in the door frame and cross my arms over my chest. I nod, motioning for him to continue.
"Oh, um, Autumn, we-- as in me and my co-workers-- were going though some, uh, some files, and we found out that you're-- that is to say, well-" He fidgets with his fingers and runs a hand though his hair. His cheeks puff as he breathes in.
"Spit it out, dude."
"You're behind on your rent," he rushes.
I feel my eyes grow slightly, but I quickly fix it. "Okay. I can pay the fifty or sixty bucks back by-"
"Seven-hundred."
I nearly choke on my own spit. My eyes boggle at him. "S-seven-hundred?" I repeat.
He nods. "I'm sorry. I haven't-"
"I need to get ready for school, alright?" I say, turning to face away from him into my decent sized apartment.
"Oh, yeah. Um, I-"
"Head downstairs. I know you just got off your shift, as it is just after six. I don't wanna be the reason your exhausted," I say. "I gotta get ready anyway."
Doug just nods sadly and closes my door and goes back to his place. . . I hope.
I run a hand through my ruly hair and lock my door back. I head to my bedroom and open my dresser. I pull out my school uniform: a navy mid-thigh skirt, white knee-high socks, a white button-down undershirt, a navy blazer and a white tie. I quickly change and find my grey dress shoes.
I run into my bathroom and look into my mirror. A girl with mid-back length red hair, a freckle covered face and baby blue eyes stair back. Instead of a sharp face, she has a little chubbiness and pierced ears. Her chest isn't huge like most girls, but decent in size. She has a few pimples on her forehead, but aside from that, she's beautiful. That's me.
I find my hairbrush and brush my hair until its soft. I pick my grey headband up from beside the sink and gently place it on my head. I brush my teeth and click the light off as I leave the room.
I head to the kitchen and find my reusable coffee cup. I fill it up three-fourths of the way and put a little to much creamer in. I dump a but load of sugar in and stir it all together. I turn the coffee pot off and grab my satchel book bag from beside the couch. I grab my coat aswell and my apartment key which is connected to my car keys.
I unlock my door and grab my scarf from the coat rack as an after thought. I open my door and step out into the hall.
"And now today really starts," I whisper to myself.
I check my watch as I step into the elevator. I've got one hour and half before I need to be at school. That means I can walk.
I leave the apartment building and cross the street, heading to Afton Avenue.
As I do, the wind picks up so I wrap myself in my scarf and flip my jacket's collar up, blocking some wind.
After fifteen minutes of walking, I pass that pizza place. You know, the place with animatronics? Anyway, I see a white sign with big, bold letters:
NOW HIRING
NIGHT SHIFT
CONTACT
FAZBEAR'S-1800I stop and stare at the sign for a minute. This might be worth remembering later.
I take my phone from my pocket and take a picture. I set a reminder for three'o'clock. I continue my way to school.
The weather only gets cooler on my walk. I finally make it with forty-five minutes to spare.
I walk through the opened doors and straight to my locker. I stand on my tip-toes and quickly enter the combination and hit it. The door swings open.
I open my satchel-like bag and grab some books and notepads and put them in my locker. I switch them out for my science and History books.
I put my gym clothes in the locker and shut my locker. I go back to flat foot and look around. Just a handful of kids and most of the staff.
I grab my phone from my pocket and earbuds. I sit in the cafeteria and listen to music, waiting for school to begin.
