Damon POV
My blood was flowing out, my body was weak. I struggled to move from the stake that was stuck in my back to where I couldn't reach. The pain wasn't my focus though, it was on Mia.
"Stop hurting him please!" She pleaded out, pain in her eyes and voice. "Jeremy please don't. Take me instead."
"No," I groaned out in pain, but I saw his focus shift to her. "Take one more step to her and you're dead."
He ignored me, eyes stuck on my daughter who was trying to keep her calm. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. She was my child, I was her parent. She shouldn't be giving her life to protect me.
"Jeremy if there's any part of you still there... don't do this to my father. Kill me instead." Tears were pouring out of her eyes and once I saw his draw back the stake, adrenaline pumped through me.
"No!" I shouted as I desperately scratched at my back to grab the stake, but it was too late. By the time my hand felt the wood, Jeremy had slammed the wooden stake through my daughters chest.
My world crumbled as I watched my baby fall to the floor, agony in her eyes as I watched her skin turn grey and veiny. "Daddy. It's okay," she struggled to smile at me but I couldn't take my eyes off the stake.
Her eyes shut closed and-
I shot up in bed, panting from the dream I had. I had to get to Mia, there's no way that dream wasn't a sign that my baby wasn't safe with a hunter. If he laid a hand on her, I would cut every finger off one by one and force him to watch me burn them in the fire.
I shot out of bed, using my speed to throw on clothes as Nadia was still sleeping. I caught a glimpse of her ass but quickly shook the thought away, now was most definitely not the time.
I ran towards my daughter instead, knowing I would be faster than a car. The picture of her dead on the ground was still fresh in my mind and I promised myself that would never become reality.
I saw the college come into view and my relief flooded me as I realized I would be at her side in a few more minutes. Two minutes later, I was in front of her apartment. I saw her window was unlocked so I figured..fuck the stairs.
I jumped onto her windowsill and climbed in quietly. I saw my daughter laying in bed next to Jeremy but they were facing away from each other. Her side facing me as she held onto her pillow.
I smiled at how beautiful she was. I couldn't fight it anymore, I reached out to gently stroke her cheek with my fingers. She wrinkled her eyebrows but slowly opened them.
"Dad?" Sleep heavy on her voice, barely a whisper.
Mia POV
What was he doing here? Was everything okay? Where was my mother? I sat up in bed, careful not to wake up my fiancé as I slipped out of bed, thankful that I was clothed.
My dad would've flipped his shit if he saw us naked in bed. We went to the kitchen as I saw it was 3am. I groaned and felt myself a bit hungry. He must've heard my stomach growl, "Let's go eat."
"Dad...it's 3 in the morning."
"And I still don't give a damn, come on." He grabbed my keys and I rolled my eyes, not believing this is happening right now. I went to throw on a hoodie and some swears before throwing my hair up in a ponytail.
I let my dad drive my car as my grogginess went away slowly. "Want to explain why you snuck through my window at 3am?"
"Had a nightmare and missed you." I could tell that he wasn't telling me the whole truth but I shrugged it off. I cuddled onto his arm, letting him feel my love for him since he seemed pretty startled.
