This basically includes all the stuff I'm too lazy to put into an exposition as well as things that explain the story. Sorry if this is a little long, but like I said I wasn't sure where to put this exposition, so I just added it as another chapter. Feel free to ask questions as needed!
info about magic winged people (magicae alatus) These people can have control over elements, some Other things along with that element- being earth, wind, fire, and water. These elements affect the tint/type of wings; earth: green, brown, grey, leathery/scaly wings,
wind: navy blue, teal, light blue, big feathery wings, some have scaly wings
fire: red, orange, black, leathery/scaly wings
water- dark blue, green, tan/yellow, leathery wings
The magicae alatus also have the ability to make their element (for example- water where there isn't any) but it takes a lot of practice and tires them out very fast, the more they use it.
Magicae alatus also have horns, which come in many different shapes and sizes. They are the source of their power (no horns, no magic). Both horns and wings can be concealed/"put away" so they aren't seen by anyone.

On their 16th birthday, they can choose if they want to help or harm people with their powers, which is done in a dream/vision that they have the night of their birthday. Those who choose to harm people with their magic get their power swapped for dark magic, which reflects their personality (a person who lies a lot/is fake to people gets illusion magic). This dream can be induced after they turn 16 to go dark or "rogue", and vice versa.
general info Alatus (winged people without magic) generally aren't feared, but humans are still cautious, so the government made magic bracelets that can pick up on (magicae) alatus. They can also bring out wings and horns with practice by the user. Most people don't use them very often, but one is typically kept in the house.
The magicae alatus are generally feared because of the dark magicae alatus. However, some magicae alatus rose up as vigilantes/heroes to protect the people from the dark magicae alatus who cause trouble in the area.
