The three of you returned to the castle. As much as you wanted to go out and destroy Jonathan for doing this to the only one you've ever loved, you trusted Dio and believed in whatever plan he had.

He told you that he planned to track Jonathan until he saw an opportunity to take his body. Jonathan's body was the only one worthy of him, after all.

"But where do I fit in with all of this?" You asked.

"You don't." Dio said. "I've prepared a place for you, in case of an emergency like this."

You, Dio, and Wang Chan had all reached he castle's base level. Dio motioned to Wang Chan, and Wang Chan walked over to a crude panel in the stone wall and activated it. A large stone monument in the shape of a cross rose from the ground.

"What does this have to do with me?"

Dio remained silent, as a compartment slid open on the face of the cross. It appeared big enough for you to fit in.

"No." you said simply. "I won't do it!! I want to help you get your body back!!"

"(Y/N), Listen to me." Dio tried to keep his voice level. "I won't take more than a few days. This is only to keep you safe okay? The second I get my body I'll come to get you."

"But Dio-"

"No buts. Listen, you'll be perfectly safe, the compartment is latched from the inside. Nobody can come in unless you want them to."

"But then how will I know it's you?"

"You'll know."

The look of hopelessness on your face made him feel a fleeting twinge of regret. What if he had simply left you alone? Would you have been happier? Would you have all the beautiful things you deserved?

He knew you should have better than this, but what was he to do? He looked into your eyes and knew that there would have been no way he could have let you go to some other man. He sighed.

"I love you, (Y/N). You're the only one I care about, which is why I am trying to be the best I can for you. I can't do that without a body."

There is nothing but silence now
Around the one I loved

"Is this our farewell?" You ask him.

"Sweet darling you worry too much." His eyes soften.

"But how can the world just carry on? I feel so lost when you are not by my side..."

"Oh, (Y/N)..." If he had a body, he would have caressed your cheek. "I will watch you through these nights, Rest your head and go to sleep. This is not our farewell."

You stepped into the compartment. "I love you."

Dio remained silent. "I'll return my love when I return." He smiled that sweet smile that only came out for you, and the monument was lowered into the floor.

Into the darkness.
