It was larger than any bed August had ever seen, let alone laid in. She was pretty sure you could fit a family of four into it comfortably. August pulled back one side of the massive comforter and let her muscles relax into the soft foam beneath her. Even though there was more than enough room to spread out, she found herself pushing her body as far to one side of the bed as she possibly could. She felt the weight of the bed shift slightly as the princess made her way in as well.

Izzy could practically feel her heart beating out of it's chest. She knew changing into a nightgown in front of a stranger was a bold move but she couldn't help but love the response from it and now she was getting the girl into her bed. She had never had any sort of romantic feelings towards a woman before but then again every time she was with a man it never felt right. But there was something about August that just felt right. Izzy felt her hands growing clammy as she was hyperaware to the girl next to her.

By now the sun had risen enough to cast a dim morning glow into her room, making it bright enough to see but dark enough to feel comfortable. After over thinking for what felt like a year, Izzy made the decision to turn around.

She rolled onto her back and brought herself onto her side, only to find a face inches from hers.

August held her breath as she looked into the eyes of the princess. Even in the low light she could swim in their bright blue color. Her heart was practically jumping out of her chest, she felt her lungs silently gasping for air. She was practically sure that the princess would be able to hear her heart pounding outside of her chest.

Izzy let her eyes fall quickly to Augusts lips and then back to her eyes as they both became away of the gap between them slowly growing closer. August reached her hand up to the princesses face but just before she could make it, a loud bell rang out in the courtyard- making them both jump in surprise.

Izzy couldn't help but giggle. The morning bell was always rung when the sun surprised the horizon. It was a tradition in Aldham. And while she had grown used to it over the many years, even it got her this time.

They both laughed, August's face turning red in embarrassment. Though she wasn't sure if it was from being startled so aggressively or of the almost that just occurred moments before. The entire situation still had her puzzled. She couldn't help but feel attracted to the princess, and while it felt like the feelings were being reciprocated she couldn't shake the interaction between Izzy and the stable boy. What if her version of being kind translated to feeling flirty? In fact according to all lore, the princess had only ever been with men before. Her own fiancé had been killed in front of her eyes just days before.

She had taken a lot of risks for this girl already, but she couldn't bring herself to take one more and possibly risk her life. A Rhyle hidden in the Aldham palace itself. One wrong move and she would be put to death quicker than any other.

"Are you tired?" August whispered finally, kicking herself for still not knowing where she stood with the princess.

"A little." Izzy shrugged in return, "I'm mostly cold."

"Oh, do you need some more blankets?" August began pulling one of hers away only for Izzy to stop her lightly with her hand.

"No that's okay. But do you think we could sleep how we did the other night?" The princess couldn't help but feel her cheeks redden at the proposition.

August simply nodded and readjusted herself as the princess shifted into her side.

Izzy let her head rest on her chest as she felt August reach around and hold her. She could hear the low pitched thumping of the girls heart beneath her. It was steady and quick. Izzy wondered if she felt the same way about her. That almost kiss alone was enough to drive her crazy, it made her think what might've happened if they hadn't been interrupted.
