Promise

Part 5

Piper POV:

I couldn't take looking at those two. It hurt me. I've liked Damian for a long time. Ever since we were little. I wanted to like other guys but just couldn't get over Damian.

I'm so stupid for thinking I had a chance.

I ran not looking back at those two. It hurt to much. Before I knew it I was in the floor "hey are you okay? You need to pay attention. You bumped into me haha" a guy says putting his hand out for me to grab.

He was tall. Almost as tall as Damian. Ugh why do I have to think about him, especially right now.

"W-why are you crying?" He asked me as I grabbed his hand "don't worry about it" I groaned.

The tears wouldn't stop.

"You can tell me" he said "I don't even know you" I choked not making eye contact.

I really didn't want to talk him or anyone about what happened.

"Please tell me, a pretty girl like you shouldn't be crying" He pleaded as he pulled me into his grasp.

I went stiff but after a moment I relaxed. I didn't know the guy but yet I felt...safe. I covered my face so that he didn't see my face get red. It was so embarrassing. The last time I was held like this was when.....I left.

I heard footsteps and separated my fingers so that I could see who it was....

It was Damian.

He just stood there. His eyes looked so empty but yet filled with pain.

Why though?

He didn't like me. He liked that girl....

Chloe.

He walked past us to the cafeteria.

"Now tell me...what's your name?" The guy said leading me to sit down on a bench near by "my name is Piper and you are?" I asked, sitting down on the bench "my name is Riley" he said sitting down next to me "nice name" I smiled "me? You have a way better name than me" he chuckled and of course this made me laugh "you have an amazing laugh" he said "aw thank you" I blushed.

"Your not crying anymore" he said turning to look at me. I touched my face and it was dry "oh yeah, your right" I say "thank you for making me a little more happy " I smiled "your welcome but thank you for letting me hear your beautiful laugh" he said. I giggled and felt my face getting hot.

I glanced over and saw Damian walking out of the cafeteria and went somewhere. I hope he's okay. It's interesting that I still care about him even after what just happened.

The bell rang and Riley and me exchanged numbers so we could talk more "see you later beautiful" he said waving at me going the opposite direction "bye!" I smiled waving back at him. I didn't see Damian in any of my classes or anywhere. I went home and did homework and went to bed with an empty stomach. I wasn't in the mood to eat.

Damian's POV:

The sounds of my alarm clock was so annoying.  I turned and grabbed my phone off my bookshelf and turned my alarm off. I stayed in bed for a minute not wanting to get up.

I didn't want to see her.

I was angry and upset about what I saw yesterday. I wanted to be there for her and hold her as if it was the last.

I got up from bed and got dressed. "Hey sweetie" mom said as I came down stairs "hi" I mumbled walking out the door.

I didn't feel like eating breakfast.

I put my headphones on and started listening to music. I didn't want to talk to anyone.  I was listening to the usual. Which was rock and metal. Piper used to listen to it too but I don't know if she still does.

Why am I still think about her?

She was my best friend and yet I promised her that I'd marry her. We were kids back then and we were just being kids not knowing what the future would hold for us. Everything is so different now and I tried to act fine with it. When really I wasn't.

I missed her like crazy. There wasn't a single day I didn't think about her.

Yeah I had girlfriends but all of them couldn't compare to Piper.

She was different.

I got to the front gate and saw Piper talking to that guy and it annoyed me. I tried to ignore them but I couldn't stop staring at her. We locked eyes. I didn't want to stop looking into those beautiful green eyes. It's like they knew how I was feeling, sadness. She gave me a weak smile but that was enough for me. I knew she wanted to make me feel better. That's what I loved about her, she always put others before her. I winked at her and she broke eye contact while blushing. She is so cute. WAIT. NO. I can't like her. She was my best friend! It can't happen. God I'm an idiot.

The bell rang and as I was heading inside I felt something pull my hair "WHAT TH-" I jumped, it was Piper. Laughing at me of course.  "Sorry haha I didn't mean to scare you" she chuckled.

I love her laugh, it can make anyone happy if they're having a bad day.

"It's okay" I chuckled "so are you okay?" I asked "uh y-yeah" she assured me but her face was quite red. We started walking to home room and decided to sit next to each other.

I felt happy.

It felt like old times.

The bell rang as we say down. "Okay class today you guys have free time because I have no plans for this class today so have fun but don't be to loud" Mrs. pecker said heading towards her desk.

Everyone went to their little groups and I hung out with Piper and Kyle.

I didn't even notice that they were arguing, "DEADPOOL IS BETTER!" Piper shouted pushing me aside "NO! HE IS NOT! BLACK WIDOW IS BETTER!" Kyle screamed back "NO SHE ISN'T! YOU ONLY LIKE HER BECAUSE SHE'S HOT!" She yelled "YOUR DARN RIGHT!" He shouted "ladies ladies your both pretty" I chuckled getting in between them "WHAT ARE YOU  TALKING ABOUT?! HE'S HIDEOUS!" Piper yelled pointing at Kyle "IM HOT! I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT!" Kyle shouted slapping Pipers hand away "DID YOU JUST HIT ME?!" Piper said grabbing her hand "YES I DID! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?!" Kyle shouted puffing his chest out "IM GOING TO KILL YOU!" She shouted "TRY ME!" He shouts back putting his arms out.

Piper ran around him and jumped on his back "GET OFF ME YOU MONKEY!" He yelled trying to grab her "YEAH I AM A MONKEY WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT?!" She responded with wrapping her arms around his neck "TROOSE! TROOSE!" He shouts gasping for air "DEAL!" She chuckles getting off of him, I couldn't stop laughing what had just happened was hilarious "your new nickname is monkey" Kyle said rubbing his neck "okay" Piper shrugged jumping back onto the desk.

This was a great morning.

Piper, Kyle, and I went to our first period which was English. I wasn't that bad at English but Piper was good at it. We made it to our class and sat down next to each other, I was in the middle and Piper and Kyle were on each side of me.

I passed a note to Piper as the lecture started.

Damian: want to hang out this weekend?

Piper: sure! What time?

Damian: in the afternoon?

Piper: sure! Sounds good! Will Kyle be there or no?

Damian: it will just be us, I want to catch up.

Piper: oh okay, well I need to pay attention now. I don't need a bad grade in this class.

She handed me back the note and I felt happy. I didn't know if this was a date or just a couple of old friends hanging out, either way I was still excited.
