I don't know where I am

I haven't entirely thought this through, I don't know where I am. The plants around me aren't familiar, even the smell is off. I smell salt, and something similar to the smell that wafts off the Euphrates right after it floods. It's not dry and hot, like what I'm used to, it's wet and it sticks to your skin like warm honey.
I don't understand what's happened in the last few hours, and I'd like to keep it that way. I need my daughters and they need me. I have to find my family again.
I don't know much about botany. These trees don't grow in Mesopotamia, that's it, that's all I get in terms of knowledge. I am far from home and I still have no idea where I am or why this is happening.
In the background there is an incessant noise rolling through the vegetation. A slow whir followed by a crash. I let the sound lead me forward because my other senses are failing me on useful information. The undergrowth stops abruptly and I'm met with a blinding light.
A golden material squeezes through my toes. It's hot and scratches the soft skin between my toes. The smell of salt is intense.
I look up and see an astonishing sight. I've never seen this much water before, I mean the yearly floods are impressive but seeing this makes the rivers back home look like rain drops. Blue extends past the horizon. With out the waves it would look like it became the sky.
My lips were dry and I was thirsty. I knelt down and started to drink. It tasted foul and only a mouthful made it down my throat. I spit the vile liquid out and started to gag. It was revolting. It stuck on my tongue and made me want more water.
I collapsed to the ground. I've lost my family, my home, and my will to live.
Who knew it could take so little to destroy a person. So little information. So little energy. So little being taken away in so little time.
A noise escaped from the forest. The noise of a stick breaking made me lift my head. It was the man from before. My eyes grew wider and a scream tore through my lips. I crouched in front of him still deciding if I could hit him again. I thought it better to escape once more, but where. The poison behind me or the mystery behind him.
Fighting makes more sense now. I leapt forward and kept low. I sent my fist into the centre of his torso, just under the chest but still on the ribcage. It flew back off and horror tore through my body as I realized he had right wrist gripped tightly. I spun left and forced my fist into his upper arm. I heard the pop and ran. I turned back as he was forcing his left elbow back into place. It hung loose at his side and I could see his pain.
It was hard to move on the sand, my feet sunk deeper as I tried to run harder. I ducked into the forest and slowed a little. Maneuvering around thick plants and taking longer strides over roots.

A/N: sorry it's been awhile owo;; enjoy it, give me feedback <3 still a vague idea of how I'm going to get to the end I have planned </3
