Epilogue
Almost 3 years later, The High Table had closed the book on John Wick. An extensive search was made in the States, Canada and Europe to no avail. With other pressing matters at the forefront, they figured it was a waste of time and resources to keep looking for him. Oh, if someone ran into him and shot him dead on the spot, they were fine with that but to keep searching...no. He could be anywhere under an assumed name and they would have a hard time finding him. They knew Cassie O'Hara was with him considering she just disappeared after the kidnapping but they were two small fish in a big pool. The High Table could do without John Wick. The FBI put Cassie's missing person's case on a shelf and moved on. That's just the way it was.
John and Christie Arrington had made friends in town and were living a peaceful life. They walked along the canal or their own grounds or watched the Gulf of St. Lawrence out of their bedroom window. They traveled into town and got library cards, found the post office and visited the one and only grocery store in the near vicinity. They visited both of the little restaurants and found a movie theater. They had stopped looking over their shoulders every minute of the day and had settled into every day life.
Christie was in the kitchen preparing dinner when she called for John. "Where are you?"
"Upstairs," came his answer in a hushed tone.
"What are you doing?"
"Come and see...."
Christie walked into their bedroom and the French doors were open. The cream colored curtains waved with the warm breezes, a beautiful bright blue sky was before them, with the sounds of the water as a background.
She walked out onto the patio and comfortable in the rocking chair was John, cradling his sleeping 6 week old daughter, Nora, in his arms with Beau sleeping at his feet.
"We'll have a fine life," Christie said warmly, putting her hands on John's shoulders and kissing his cheek.
"Yes, we will."
