Finally FINALLY getting around to this, I'm actually writing this review while watching the sub for the first time (which the voice acting is way more pleasant in this version I think, not that the English version is bad, but the Japanese is so much more....I'm not sure how to explain it.)
ANYWAY Spirited Away. My favorite Ghibli film and the only one I've watched as of right now, heh. (Kiki's Delivery Service and Howl's Moving Castle are on my list though, among others.)
Let me start out by stating the obvious. This film is GORGEOUS. The backgrounds, the character design, the colors, the animation, the soundtrack, its all amazing. If nothing else, watch the film for that.
But there are other reasons too, of course, and one of those is the characters. Chihiro is a lovable protagonist and enjoyable character to watch, while others provide different personalities and great elements to the film.
Another thing I really enjoyed was how immersive it is. The spirits' designs, the backgrounds, the music, it was all so beautiful and just AGH
Like, just look at this!
I love these duck things so much
I, honestly, don't know if I can say much else. This film is quirky, beautiful, the characters are great, the colors and backgrounds and everything else are absolutely breathtaking, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart.
If you've never seen this film, (first off, WATCH IT) and I think you would especially enjoy it if you are a fan of Alice In Wonderland, Coraline, and other films of the like. It is super immersive in its established world and is raw with its aesthetic.
But if you HAVE seen the film, this video is one of my all time favorites.
Happy late Tuesday (for my fellow 'Muricans) and I will be back with Pirates! Band of Misfits and Frozen 2 (dunno which will come first)
