I stared deeply into his eyes. A plan... At this point I'm willing to do anything to escape.
"What kind of plan?" His eyes light up.
"So you're in?"
"Of course I am." He didn't remove his hand from my hair, instead he kept patting my back in a leisurely pace.
"It's still being thought through, it'll either end up with making a fire or pulling the fire alarm. They can't catch all of us."
"How will that work? There's only two of us."
"I didn't say I was doing this alone." I pinned Jax onto the mattress excitedly.
"No way... How long have you been planning this?" He held my wrists.
"Some months ago, when there were rumors of leaders sneaking some people out. Guess who planned that?" I smiled.
"You did..." He laughed and sat up.
"I planned it with all the leaders that came from the batches. But there's some people I have to be careful of. The leaders that gave birth to this place are still present, we have to be cautious." I nodded.
"We're going to get these people out of here Delilah, we're going to get out of here." I felt relieved. There was hope, and a reason to keep fighting.
"We're going to try and deliver this plan before the next game. If you see anyone suspicious of us, tell me."
"I will." I got off of him and we both walked out of his room.
"I'd like to spend more time with you Delilah but I have some things to take care of."
"That's alright, I'll just end up having duties assigned to me anyways." He patted my head.
"Feel free to come anytime, I don't mind."
"Thank you Jax, I really needed this."
"Me too, I'll see you around." He waved and we went our separate ways.
A plan to escape... Jax, you light head. As the day went on, I guessed correctly. I got duties assigned to me even though it was supposed to be my rest day. I cleaned the corridors and mopped every corner. I placed one of the misplaced brooms into the broom closet I hid in for the game. I still don't know how I even managed to fit in there. It looked cramped and slim for anyone to hide in. I placed the broom in and closed it. I was going to sit in the stairway when the PA system came on.
"Number 1001, you're needed up front." I paused in my tracks. What's going to happen now? I didn't do anything.
I made my way to the office and hesitantly walked in. The secretary scolded me.
"Number 1001, get into conference room B, Jax needs you! Don't keep him waiting." I obeyed and knocked on a door with the words Conference Room B labeled on the door. The door opened and Jax lead me in.
I studied the room, eight young leaders sat around a rectangular table. Including me, there were 10 people in the room. I spotted two leaders whispering to each other on the side.
"That's Delilah, number 1001. She was one of the first batches, she came when she was really young."
"That's Delilah? I guess the rumors about her were true." Jax cleared his throat.
"Alright, I think that's everyone. Number 1001, please take a seat." I carefully took the unoccupied seat Jax pointed to. My nerves kicked in when the leaders started to question me.
