Your Absence Grieved Me

I was born in Saudi Arabia, specifically in a city named Jeddah. You see, growing up I never really knew what I wanted to do in the future. I knew that I was definitely not staying in Saudi Arabia for college. I mean where else would I go than the OG place itself? The United States of America.

Fast forwarding : My first semester of  junior year of college

I was enrolled in this class that was required for my major. I wasn't quite sure to what to expect, so I was dreading it a bit.

First day of class, we simply went over boring syllabus shit. Second day of class though, I met this girl. Her name? Marissa. She was super sweet, she let me borrow her  clicker that day. A week or two later, a lot of people on campus were getting sick. This one guy sitting behind us in the lecture hall was having a really hard time. He would constantly go to the restroom to blow his nose. Without hesitation, Marissa gave him a small pouch of Kleenex without him asking. This may sound dramatic, but I was honestly taken away by how selfless she was. There were almost 300 people in that lecture hall, at least 90 in our section, yet she was the only one who helped him out. Since then, I was admired by her.

I remember she once told me a story about her high school sweet heart. Apperently suddenly broke up with her three days before her study abroad trip. I felt bad for her, and told her that she deserved better. And that's when I realized, I was really starting to have feelings for this girl.

Since then, I asked her if she wanted to study together sometime after class. Although she worked part-time, she still managed to study with me. Which, I personally found really sweet of her. Especially since she had a shit-ton of things on her plate at the time.

Few weeks into the semester :
Even though, we only saw each others on Tuesdays & Thursdays for class, we were seeing each others almost everyday. I decided that I should let her meet some of my close friends. I let her meet one of my closest my friends, Abdullah. Don't forget Abdullah, he's really important in this story.. You'll find out why later on. Marissa, Abdullah, and I would all study together in a study room way past midnight. Well, I shouldn't call it studying-- in reality we were messing around and saying were "working". Mind you, I was having hella feelings for this girl but she didn't know. I kept it to myself because I wasn't sure how to confess. Or if I was going to at all for that matter.

Midway through the semester :
Ayy my birthday was coming up. It was my 21st! I was already adjusted to the American culture. Especially the drinking culture. So as you can imagine, I got fucking drunk that day. No regrets though. From what I remember, it was liiitttttt. (Don't drink kids). Anyways, after that long night of partying, I accidentally sent a drunk text to Marissa on snapchat. As you can imagine, I told her that I liked her.

Her response?
