    Immortal

P.O.V Marsy

I am immortal. I know what most people think; God, vampire, demon, or angel. I am not any of those. I am simply immortal. I have no powers other than I cannot age, I cannot get sick, and I heal extremely fast. My immortality, however has its limits.

Over the years I've learned that I can die but only by being heavily wounded. There aren't many ways that can happen however because I am too skilled at evading attacks. Centuries of running and hiding will make any one skilled in combat. Needless to say, Immortality comes with a price.

I have lived for five hundred forty- nine years. Although, I wasn't always this alone, back then when I stopped aging at eighteen my father died. My older brother, Zachery, maintained us, meaning my mother and I from that point on. Five years past and I was suppose to be twenty- one and my brother twenty- five we were so-post to look like mature youths by then, but we did not.

It was terrifying to feel people aging around us aging and yet we stayed the same and I was not the only one. Our mother died from what is now known as cancer four years later and we became orphans. The town started to become aware that  Zachery and I were not aging and people became frightened of the unknown and of what we were becoming. They forced us to leave that summer and the only reason we were not accused of sorcery or being vampires was because the town knew us well and fondly so they let us go before people truly became a threat and created a mob.

We left the next morning willingly. That morning as the sun arose we looked back at the town we knew so well for the very last time. I never remember witnessing such a lovely little village in all the years I have lived and yet it was a place we would never be welcomed again. I knew that that would always be home to me and my brother no matter what.

My brother and I traveled together for three hundred years. Each other was everything we had. We took great care of each other and never let the other become depressed at our situation. Unfortunately for us all good things, bitter sweet or not, had to come an end... even for immortals.

We were as happy as we could be in our situation, and finally getting used to the idea that we could not die-and then we were proved wrong on that dreadful night.

(Flashback- Romania 1656)

" Zachery, their close behind and catching up," I whispered, fear evident in my voice.

" I know Marsy," he said clearly trying to sound more confident than he was." I know."

We were in a forest in Romania and vampire slayers were after us. I stood behind a tree as their bullets flew around us. We then ran hard jumping over obstetricals and every once in a while taking a seconds brake before running again. They were persistent but I couldn't blame them. Those damned vampires had made them have nothing to lose especially when those bastards had killed many of their family members. Unforcunately, they were too quick to point their figures at us. The unthinkable was happening, they were too close, they weren't giving up, and we were tired.

We collapsed after hours of running," Zachery, what are we going to do?" I asked.

He looked grimly at me. I knew in that instant that we would not be able to out run them. They were almost upon us and we got up, only this time we misjudged how close they were and they surrounded us. We were helpless. Zachery got over to me and held me close. They thought we were vampires and even if we tried to explain that we were not they would not believe us for a second. The leader stepped forward.
