Carlisle had been thinking since that night of what he and Mason should do. He thought back to to all the women he'd courted back when he was human. But then shook his head, Mason most likely wouldn't want to do that, not only because he was a boy but because his suitors back then had been vain, always caked in makeup and frilly dresses, and only after his money. Somehow he knew Mason would be different. Though whose to say that Mason hadn't been planning something as well. But all the while Carlisle realized he was overthinking this, like astronomically overthinking this. so he decided to do what he did best, focus on his work, and that's exactly what he did. He went back into the ER to take over the nightshift for the exhausted looking female who looked relieved at his appearance. "Thanks for taking over Dr.Cullen, my daughter just called saying that are dog is sick so I need to leave now." Dr.Cullen smiles at the woman charmingly and nodded towards her. "It's completely fine Mrs. Grisha, be careful though, it's a bit foggy tonight." She smiled brightly at Carlisle as well. Unlike most of the females in the ER, she didn't lust after Carlisle. When Mrs. Grisha left, the ER was rather slow, only the local drunks and a few bar fights coming in. Nothing serious. The night continued on like this until an older man walked in, looking to be having trouble breathing. Carlisle sighed knowing the man was about to die and began setting up a bed for him. He seemed to be clutching a picture in his hand tightly. When Carlisle hooked him up to an oxygen tank, the old man smiled at him kindly and thanked him. "Dr." His old raspy voice croaked out. "I know I'm not going to be alive when I wake up, so I'm going to ask you to give this to someone for me. It is for my godson, he never knew me, and I was in too much pain to ever reveal myself to him. His name is Mason Grimoire." Then the old man held out his fragile arm to Carlisle. In it was a envelope and attached an ancient looking necklace. Carlisle stared at the man wide eyes as he slowly began to close his eyes and fall asleep, a sleep that he knew, would be his last. Carlisle tucked the things into the inside of his coat as he walked out. He would give them to Mason when he brought him the man's body. Morbid he thought, but the other alternative was even more so. That was how Carlisle spent the rest of the night, pondering a way to break the news to Mason.
(Next Day)
Mason had a weird feeling all night, the same feeling he got before his aunt died. This feeling didn't let him rest, and so he ended up, drawing and coloring in pictures of mythical creatures all night. He planned on showing Sam them tonight. He had yet to explain to the boy, all of the other creatures he's found out about, when meeting with other packs. It really wasn't his fault, it's just that, Sam had become rather distant as of late, and he didn't know what to do.
He was nervous about tonight. He was supposed to meet Carlisle at the cliffs by the treaty line, to discuss things. Carlisle wasn't specific on what they were discussing so, he was rather nervous, because of the foreboding feeling in his gut. They had chosen tonight, because of Carlisle's work schedule. It would be tricky getting around their schedules, since Carlisle was a doctor, and him being the only pathologist in town. Though in a way it was convenient, because their jobs correlated slightly.
His heart ached as he thought more about the one chosen for him. It made him want to cry in all honesty, but he knew he had to be strong, for his pack. Speaking of, he felt a tug in the pack bond as he walked out of his house. It was the same tug he felt everytime someone shifted, whether they were new or already a standing member. He decided to go check on them, having nothing better to do. So he shifted into his wolf form and decided to run off.
Turns out, the tug he had felt, was actually just Paul shifting, so that he could take over for his partner, Jared. Mason liked pairing the two together because they got along great, and were friends even before they had shifted. This meant that they were rather use to each other and liked each other so they were less likely to cause a fight and risk getting discovered. Just as he got near Paul, he felt someone summoning him.
It was a talent most older grim had, summoning, that was. Mason knew it could only be two people, either Jake or Billy, seeing as Sam had been too scared since the accident to summon him anywhere. It saddened him to think about and he quickly shook the thought away, before telling Paul where he was going. Then after he was a good ways away from Paul, he let himself be summoned through his magic. He quickly appeared in his room, where the portal was set up, and saw Billy staring at him.
