The Camp

Sorry if I gave u a fright last chapter. I fainted. It's been two years since that meeting so yet me get u up to date. That guy at the bar was not a good guy AT ALL! Turns out he is a evil dictator of the magical world! A very strong warlock. And the competition I signed up for was really a contract signing me up for his magical army. Now by now ur probably wondering why he picked me, a bum kid with no education and no family. That's exactly why he picked me. No one would look for me...

The way we get our magical powers is incredibly painful since we're not born with them. They make this nasty concoction and force it down ur throat. Its so cold that u feel it go down ur chest and into ur stomach then u feel it spread around your body and start to change u. Painfully expanding ur mind. Very painful...

Then after, ur assigned what camp u should be sent to through a series of test. They either see if ur a warlock, a witch, a see'er (can see into the future), or a misfortune (the magic goes wrong and completely changes ur body and they just use the magic inside to make more of that horrible potion then dispose of the body).

I was chosen as a warlock. There the equivalent of a foot soilder so I get taught mainly how to fight. We don't use traditional wands. They say its a disgrace to magical people for non magical people to have wands. So they let us choose a item and bewitch it to hold magic in it. They called them artifacts. I picked a card, the ace of spade. Then that is where we get our magic from.

The camp is a horrible place. Incredibley filthy, no hygiene, no running water, and they give us 1 square meal a day. They give us rigorous training. Constant work outs and spell training. I'm actually quite a natural the officers at camp say. I just can't bare to take a life though...

The witches are taught how to fight as well but not as much as us. They mainly fight in the sky on broomsticks. There's this one incredibly beautiful girl there. Her name is Rachel. Blonde hair, beautiful green eyes and a nice attitude besides the fact that we're being trained for war.

I did happen to make one friend. His name is Vin. A short stocky kid with curly hair and glasses. He uses a book as his artifact. He loves to read. He's a warlock as well. But he's always hounded since he is so small. Especially by this person named Hugo. Another warlock who's artifact is a watch he stole. He's taller than me so he's about 6'3. But everytime he messes with Vin I step in. Even though he's bigger, I'm stronger and he knows it.

One morning though he tries to push me to the edge.

"Hey give that back!", I hear vin yell at Hugo.

"Make me!", Hugo yells tauntingly dangling Vins book over him.

"Leave him alone before I stick my hand down ur throat and pull ur stomach out", I say threateningly stepping up to him.

"Make... me", he whispers threateningly as well.

I stick the card on his throat so quick he didn't even see it. I feel him quiver when he realizes what it is. Luckily for him a officer comes by and breaks us apart. I snatch the book from him and give it back to Vin.

"Thanks", he says tears swelling in his eyes.

"No problem", I reply.

"I wish I could fight him."

"Be careful what u wish for...", I said, mind lingering back to the day I signed the contract.

"I could take him... I think.", he said, unsure.

"Come on we got sparring next. Lets go.", I said heading toward the big black building that was the gym.

Vin followed and as we entered we saw that today's class was for witches and warlocks which usually never happened. They put us in groups. I got a short emo-ish girl named Remilda, who wore her dark hair short and had hazelnut eyes, as a partner. I saw Rachel she got put with tiny Vin and I saw Vin starting to shake as she spoke to him. Probably out of shock that a girl was talking to him. Partners went one at a time then stepd on the duel stage. And when it was me and Remildas turn all the witches started to cheer as she went up. Supposedly she was the best witch dueler in the class. Just my luck.

She pulled out a little key that was hanging around her neck. It started to glow this faint purplish color. I pulled out my ace of spades card which was on fire with red flames but was not burning (my magical effect). We simply both started off with disarming spells but she quickly started teleporting and hitting me square in the face. I got irritated so I made a barrier around me so she couldn't teleport near me. But she quickly made a magical bow appear and shot lightning bolts at me which penetrated my barrier so I had to dodged them. I got irritated and retaliated by making a pistol appear in my hand and shot at her. She did this incredible back flip and dodged the whole clip. Then I charged her with a great sword I made appear. She quickly summoned a katana and parried my attack. Then we went at it. Hacking, slashing, and practically trying to kill each other. Till finally we were both tired. we had our blades crossed and ready to go. Then she did something incredible! She whispered a quick spell (motas maximo) which amplified her voice and she screamed so loud it drove me to my knees. I dropped my sword and she advanced on me. Luckily I summoned a suit of armor and her attack merely dented it. She raised her blade ready to attack again and finish me off when I quickly punched her as hard as I could square in the jaw with my armored fist. She fell to the ground quickly and went limp. I was scared I had killed her so I bent down to check her, when she quickly got back up and ran the sword straight threw my stomach. It felt cold very little pain but just mostly very cold.

I fell to the ground and heard the witches start cheering. All except Rachel. Then I concentrated with everything I could muster and put my armored hands on the wound and I felt the wound closing and twisting and becoming one with the metal. the wound fully closed and what was there was metal magically intertwined with my skin. I was furious by the fact that she tried to kill me! So I quickly grabbed her sword from her hand and ran it straight through her thigh. She fell to the ground with a scream of pain. I jumped on top of her and then the instructor, Mr. Dim, shouted "Yield" at the top of his lungs. I got off of her and she was taken to the middle of the witches standing on the left side of the gym.

"Good time to practice yah healing", shouted Mr. Dim. I tried to apologize but when I started walking over there I saw this faint glow in the corner of the gym that was darkest and I instantly knew who it was. The man who sent me here, the man who tricked me here, his name was really Nomaiden. No one has ever seen his face because he always hides in the darkness. I ran over to see what he wanted. I knew he was calling me because that light is only seen by those he wanted it to be seen by.

"Very good", he said.

"Thank u sir", I said bowing and mad at myself that I had to show respect to this vile man.

"I hear u are very good at spellcasting, fighting, and leading."

"Yes sir", I said standing completely still and shocked that he complemented me. U see Nomaiden was not a good person. He loves to see people in pain, or struggling to accomplish something. There was this one time when I first got to the camp that there was this girl who was on the chubby side. Her name was Laura and we were busy doing push ups and she couldn't lift herself up after the second one. Then all of a sudden Nomaiden appear in front of her with a umbrella to shade his face and practically kicked her back down to the ground. And left his foot on her back and then since she couldn't do 1 push up he grabbed her by the shoulder and they vanished. Laura was never seen again...

"I have a offer for u", Nomaiden said bringing me back to reality.

"Sir?", I responded curious and scared since our first deal didn't quite work so well.

"We are running offley low of officers in the army. So I'm promoting people... People like u", he said with what looked like a evil grin.
