1. The hours I spend with you I
look upon as sort of a
perfumed garden, a dim
twilight, and a fountain
singing to it. You and you
alone make me feel that I
am alive. Other men it is
said have seen angels, but I
have seen thee and thou art
enough.
2. For me, singing sad songs
often has a way of healing a
situation. It gets the hurt
out in the open into the
light, out of the darkness.
3. Singing is a way of releasing
an emotion that you
sometimes can't portray
when you're acting. And
music moves your soul, so
music is the source of the
most intense emotions you
can feel. When you hear a
song and you're acting it's
incredible. But when you're
singing a song and you're
acting it's even more
incredible.
4. I remember when the candle
shop burned down.
Everyone stood around
singing 'Happy Birthday.
5. Another thing I like to do is
sit back and take in nature.
To look at the birds, listen
to their singing, go hiking,
camping and jogging and
running, walking along the
beach, playing games and
sometimes being alone with
the great outdoors. It's very
special to me.
6. When Ke$ha tries to rap like
L'Trimm, she sounds like
any ordinary lonely teenage
girl stuck in a nowhere
town, singing along to her
radio and dreaming of a
party where she's the star.
Ke$ha's greatness is that in
her voice, you can hear both
the loser girl and the star.
All hail the Queen of Noi$e!
7. I am so not a proper, good
female. I can't dance in high
heels and I'm just so not
girly, but then I see these
men with these banging
bodies, dancing in heels,
singing, and having so much
fun with so much make-up
on. That makes me honestly
want to be a better woman.
8. When you sing with a group
of people, you learn how to
subsume yourself into a
group consciousness
because a capella singing is
all about the immersion of
the self into the community.
That's one of the great
feelings - to stop being me
for a little while and to
become us. That way lies
empathy, the great social
virtue.
9. Music is the greatest
communication in the world.
Even if people don't
understand the language
that you're singing in, they
still know good music when
they hear it.
10. I didn't have to win, and
winning wasn't important to
me. Being world champion
wasn't important to me.
What was important to me
was entertaining the
audience, and whether that
meant winning, losing,
singing, or whatever it was
on the live show we were
doing every week, which was
awesome, I was game for it.
