"hey river have you ever heard the phrase 'koi no yokan'?"

"no? what is it" river replied. River was a smart girl, but she never showed it. Her highest grade at school was maybe a B+, she really didn't care though. She cared about making the most of life. River's catchphrase has just been " 'coz I felt like it" for the past two years, so why change it? After school the rule was, if she could find a ride home she could stay in town with friends, unless told otherwise. She was the typical teenager, bad grades, addicted to something to hide the feelings from home, and always trying to find her style.

Her current usual fits were baggy crop tops, camo sweats, and some sort of skate shoes. She really enjoyed the internet, she wasn't addicted though. she ran a small Instagram page with just over 500 followers, she tried to post everyday most of the time telling how her day went. she had a skateboard, but hadn't been able to ride a lot to the places she wanted to since it had just snowed.

Now i'm gonna be honest, she has a crush on this boy, and since she could go on and on about him, all her friends thinks she 'loves' him, so his name in this will be "amore" (love in Italian). Amore was a grade ahead of her, but she had met him more than a few times. A couple of her better friends were friends with him, so she had hung with him after school along with the others.  River wasn't the most confident with her feelings though. She knew she liked him, and has for three and a half months, but why? yeah, she could go on and on about how much she liked him and reasons why but why specifically him? well, back to the conversation.

"koi no yokan! it's kinda another way of saying love at second sight!"

"why do I need to know this?" asked river, confused and just wanting to listen to her music,

"maybe,, amore?"

she mumbled something under her breath and sighed. star always brought up amore. star brought up amore a little too much. All of river's friends tried to get amore to like her back, even though it wasn't gonna happen. Star had text him almost everyday about River, and one of her friends from across the country had even added his snapchat trying. they all thought they would be perfect together but River had kinda stopped trying to 'impress' him. if he didn't like her, his loss.

Star continued anyways "it's the feeling of knowing you're going to love someone, maybe not right away but you know you will! Just like when you me and the others hung out at the homecoming parade after school and Amore was there!"

"Yeah, I like him! but what about it!? he doesn't like me back and that's it. You have tried everything and it really hurts when hes brought up, knowing I like him so much and he doesn't give a fuck about me." she looked at her with an angry and sad expression plastered on her face. Star apologized for bringing it up and the more River thought about it the worse it got. she ended up going into the bathroom because she was tearing up and didn't really want to show the other people in  the classroom.

After the day in school was over, River went straight home, telling her self to calm down. She gets home off of the bus and throws her stuff down, checking her phone

"oh great..." it was a text from amore.

she opened it and was relieved to find it was just streaks. she grabbed a soda from the fridge and went in her room, flopping onto her bed dramtically. she rolled over and dozed off, when she woke up she was in a rather odd place, the closet? she sat up and opened the door to see her friend Cam laying on her bed scrolling through Instagram.

"really, the closet?"

"yep, didn't want to put you on the floor again"

"put me on the couch or something next time"

"fine ruin my fun" Cam said sitting up.
