Learning about the future

Chapter 2

Eventually Jimin managed to find his laptop and brought it to Namjoon to put the stick in the correct USB port. He clicked on the document and paused it before it could start, locking eyes with his members. They all nodded collectively and found their spots on the couch. Namjoon clicked on the play button and found a seat for himself.

The screen was black for a few seconds before something happened. The lights on the screen flickered on. The boys were attentively watching what was happening.

Suddenly, a weird logo flashed on the screen, with the name BTS underneath. 'Weird,' Namjoon thought. 'That doesn't look like the logo we designed with our manager. We must have changed it.'

The logo disappeared and a man wearing strange clothes and a giant horn could be seen on a stage, surrounded by screaming fans.

Jimin was the first to figure it out.

"It's gonna show us performances! Oh I wonder if the people will like it. And omg what are we gonna look like? The note didn't say how many years in the future."

"Well, Jimin, if you look at the top left corner you'll see that it says MMA 2019. This is 2019?? That's about 6 years in the future."

Exclamations of excitement could be heard.

They focused on the screen again.

The man started blowing in the giant horn and one of the big screens on the stage opened, revealing 4 rows of men. After a second they started walking forward in slowmotion, revealing themselves to be some kind of warriors/ soldiers. Then, from the sky, 4 women came down while hanging in either curtains or big hoops. The men started dancing on the heavy beat and after a second, two 'doors' on the stage opened to reveal a figure.

It was blurry for a moment, before..

"That's me!!" Taehyung exclaimed. "Oh my god I look so much older. I look good as well. This is what happens in 6 years?"

"I guess so. I hope we all look so good," Jimin said thoughtfully.

They heard  Namjoon saying Hey, what's your dream. Of course they knew what it was, having heard the same song over and over again during dance practice.

"They must be using remixes of old songs for this performance."

What happened next shocked the members. Taehyung started dancing! Of course everyone knew he could dance, but never this style of dance. The combination of Taehyung dancing and the music was mesmerizing.

They could hear the fans screaming in the background. 'That sure sounds like a lot of people,' Namjoon thought.

After a few minutes the performance was over, the lights on the stage dimmed and the screen turned black. Words appeared in white, saying Yes, you are correct. This does take place in 2019. These short clips are all from your performance at the Melon Music Awards. For each member, I will show a solo performance as well. Each performance was an act you performed during your world tour that year, except for 2. You'll find out which ones. Also, whenever you have a question, I will answer it on the note Namjoon read in a the beginning. The paper will glow whenever I have something to tell you. Now, let's continue.

The black screen faded and another stage could be seen. This time, Taehyung was laying on a bed, with his eyes closed. A beautiful slow song started playing, and Taehyung opened his eyes just before his lines started.

The members were shocked to see the performance, seeing as the only things they've ever practiced were typical hip hop songs. They had never suspected something like this from Taehyung, but now that they've seen what it could look like, the idea wasn't so weird anymore.

On the screen, Taehyung got off the bed as the song continued. He moved aside to reveal the background dancers standing there with coatracks, pretenting they're holding someone. As the song fell into it's chorus, the choreography got a tad more difficult, but Taehyung danced it like it was nothing.

Namjoon saw in the corner of his eyes that Hoseok had a small, proud smile on his face.

When the dancers brought out the masks, Taeyung's eyes bulged out of his sockets.

''I can't believe that's me! Those masks are the coolest thing I've ever seen in any performance ever.''

Just then, the note started glowing. Namjoon picked it up and read it out loud.

Well Taehyung, you better believe it, seeing as it's 100% truth. You may not realize it now but you guys are on a road of succes and wealth, so things like this are easily manageable.

''Wow,'' Taehyung said in wonder.

The song progressed for another minute or two, before Taehyung sang the last note and ended his performance.

Namjoon made sure it was over and closed the file. He made sure the next video was ready to go and put the laptop away.

''So, thoughts? I thought it would be a good idea to take a few minutes after every performance to gather our thoughts and discuss them with the rest. Y'all in for that?'' He looked around the room and saw everyone nod, agreeing with his suggestion.

"I personally thought the performance was really mesmerizing and cool to see. The song was really good as well. I wonder who wrote it." Yoongi said whole looking around the room.

"Yeah, I agree. Hyung did a really good job, even though he hasn't technically done it yet. And whoever wrote it did a great job." Jungkook looked at Taehyung with a thoughtful expression on his face.

Suddenly, the note started glowing again. Namjoon once again picked it up and started reading.

To answer some (un)spoken questions, let me clear it out for you. The song is called Singularity, and was written by Charlie J. Perry, and co-written by Namjoon. The song features on the album you guys released in 2018, called Love Yourself: Tear. All of the performances I will show you are from your concert in London. The name of the stadium I will keep a secret for now. good luck.

"Wooww Hyung, you wrote this? That's so awesome!" Taehyung ran over to Namjoon to give him a small hug, which he accepted with open arms, laughing.

"I haven't actually done it yet but no problem haha. Shall we go onto the next video?" Namjoon asked. When everyone stayed silent, he clicked play.
