It was a long drive. All I seem to remember is the trees passing and seeing the sky through the trees. It was a five hour drive, thank God my mom drove me. When we were pulling up to the rehab center the words "Live Oak Creek Rehab" in big bold letters. As we entered through the gate my heart started beating faster and my hands started shaking. To tell you the truth im afraid...
We go up to the first desk , "Hello, Welcome to Live Oak Creek Rehab. How may i help you" the women says. "We are here to see Daniel Brown may we have the room number?", "Yes ma'am". Then she hands us a visitors pass with the room number "RM12". We walk down the hallway leading to the room. I hear my heartbeat in my ears, my belly turning upside down. Approaching the room I see a lady sitting on her bed looking at the sky, talking to her son in the chair across from her... I start to calm down now that I know im not surrounded by mental people.
My mom says "Annebelle , are you sure you want to do this?" "Yes" she opens the door. Holding the door open for me i walk in to see Daniel looking peaceful. I walk to his bed, put my hands on top of his, they still feel warm. I bend over and give him a kiss on the cheek whispering into his ear "I'm here". With my hands still over his I start to cry, because I know he doesn't deserve this.
I know when he wakes up nothing will be the same, for him its a blink of his eye. For me its way more than that. He may wake up in ten years and he'll wake up thinking he's still a teenager. He wouldnt look at life the same way. I look to my mom "What did he do so wrong, he hasnt never hurt anybody... Life is so cruel to the wrong people." She replies " Oh, Annabelle remember everything will happen for a reason and we have to trust it to believe it is true."
I look over to see a tear falling down Daniels cheek... Then " BBEEEEEPPPPPP BBEEEEPPPP" his machines ring... Nurses flood into the room while pushing us out. I find myself sitting on the floor crying. A nurse comes out... She comes out and says " We arent sure what happened just now but his heart beat is slowing down. We are doing what we can to save him" She pulls my mom to the side and talks for a good three minutes. My mom comes back saying "We neeed to go, I have to make dinner."
