"The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes"

-Arthur Conan Doyle

Just as we had decided, I get in my car and drive back home, bidding my new "allies" farewell at the little shop.

The drive back home is barely ten minutes but it feels like an hour to me as I try to navigate through the road and my thoughts.

I would be blatantly lying if I claimed I wasn't terrified of the journey I was about to embark on. I knew it would be filled by major hurdles and risks. I was positive that it probably wouldn't end well for me.

Now, if only a protagonist from a bad boy book on Wattpad could jump out of the app and lend me her unbelievable  luck for a couple of hours!

I sigh, pulling in to my driveway. I shut off the engine before hurrying out of my car and jogging up to the door of my house. I quickly open it with my set of keys and rush in, almost making it upstairs if it hadn't been for..

"Why are you sneaking in like a thief in your own house?" My mom questions me, making me stop in my tracks.

I turn around only to see her narrow her green eyes at me, her eyebrows raised. Under any other situation, I'd have found the look on her face hilarious but given the circumstances, I didn't really have the time to entertain my amazing sense of humour.

"I..um..I really need to use the washroom." I tell her.

Well, it wasn't a complete lie to be fair. I did need to go to the bathroom. I mentally applaud myself for my quick thinking.

My mom eyes me for a second before waving her hand in the air, dismissively.

I clamber up the staircases, stopping when I reach the hallway. There are only two rooms on the second floor of my house- my safe haven and the study room. What I required for our plan to begin was in the latter. However, I couldn't have my mom walk in on me while I was in there, even if I just needed a few seconds.

I bite my lip hard, contemplating what to do. An idea crosses my mind and I pick up my phone to call Kevin. He picks up after the first ring.

                         "Hello?"

"Kevin, call my home number. I need you to distract my mom while I get what we need. I'm texting you the number."

"What?" He protests, "What can I do?"

"Okay, if I wanted Mr. Grumpy, I would have called up  Elias," I scoff, "but I need your undeniable talent at being a pain in the butt."

"Oh thank you, Skylee. That'll get me to do your bidding." He mutters, sarcastically.

"I need you to annoy my mother, Kaemon, not me!" I exclaim.
