Matthew sat up slowly as his world started to return to him after going unconscious. He made a mental note right there and then not to piss off the evil spirit again. Although he didn't expect to ever follow that rule. He looked out the window and saw that the sun had set. He couldn't believe his car was still out there at the curb. He knew that it was a abandoned road but someone had to have at least seen the car by now. He shook his head gently to try and snap out of it. He looked around himself to figure out where he ended up. It was a huge room. It looked like a library. There were empty bookshelves covered in dust and spiderwebs all around the room. The wooden floor was a beautiful diamond pattern. It would be a gorgeous room if it was cleaned up. He continued to walk into the room to see it when he saw a window in the back of the room behind the bookshelves. Sitting on the bay window was a young girl. He couldn't help but wonder how many poor souls were stuck in this place. But he tried not to worry too much he had to focus on breaking the curse or he would soon be one of them. But at least by breaking the curse he should be helping them as well.
Matthew slowly approached the young girl. Once he got within hearing he spoke to her in a gentle tone as to not scare her away. "Hi. My name is Matthew what is yours?" He said as he continued to close the gap between them. The young girl's dark auburn hair fell slightly in her face as she quickly turned to look at who had spoken to her. She reached up and combed her hair from her face with her fingers. "My name is Kassidy." She said returning her vision to out the window, "I have never seen you here before. You must be new. It has been so long since someone new has come." she finished her tone very eerie and sad. Matthew took a seat beside her on the bay window, "Yeah I'm new but I'm trying to figure out how I got here and how I can get out. Can you help me?" he pleaded with her. "You can not leave." She said softly, "You do not understand. If you end up here you will never leave. It is not allowed." she finished not angrily but more like sad. She continued staring out the window never once making eye contact with him. He was so confused by this. He couldn't tell if she was just sad about the situation or worse, if she had something to do with it. "Will you help me anyway Kassidy? What happened to you? How did you end up here?" He asked urging her to give him any information he could. "Talking about death hurts you know." She said softly, but she took a deep breath before talking again, "I can not remember anymore how long ago it was but I will try...".
The world melted away just like it had before as Kassidy's story came to life. But Kassidy was in the same place as she was in the house. She sat beautifully in the bay window. But she was different. So full of life. Her hair glistened in the light of the sun. She sat quietly reading a book. He looked around the room and all the dust and age was gone. The shelves filled to the brim of books. It looked so much nicer then it had just moments ago. "Kassidy... Kassidy... KASSIDY!" Came a voice from behind him. He turned to see a older man tapping his foot on the floor as he tried to get the attention of Kassidy. She dropped her book and looked up at him. "Oh I'm so sorry I did not see you come in." She said sweetly as she jumped up off the window and curtsied to the man yelling at her. "Kassidy... I do no understand why you are wasting your time with these books. I do not believe I will ever understand you." He said the impatience still in his voice. "I'm sorry father..." She said sadly as she looked to the floor realizing he was angry with her. Her father took a deep calming breath. "I know things have been hard since mother died my dear but we have to do our best. It is time to meet him. Please go get ready." Her father said to her escorting her out of the library and to her room. She went to her closet and picked out a dress to wear to meet the stranger that she was supposed to meet. She quickly changed and then sat in front of her mirror as she started to brush her long red hair. "Kassidy..." Said a mysterious voice. Matthew looked around the room. They were alone in the room. "Who was that?" He said softly but Kassidy did not acknowledge him in anyway. It was clear she in this time was unaware he was there. But she did not seem to hear the voice either as she continued to get ready.
Kassidy gracefully rose to her feet and gave herself one last look in the mirror before turning towards the door. "Kassidy... watch your feet..." Came the whisper from the unknown voice yet again. She opened the door. A creak came from the door as it opened and she walked out closing the door behind her. She walked down the hall towards the stairs. "Kassidy!" Her father called from downstairs, "He is here Kassidy." he called again. " I am coming father." She said raising her voice slightly so it would travel to him. As she reached the top of the stairs she found herself unable to move. "What?" She said softly as she looked down at her feet but that sadly would be the last thing she would see. But Matthew continued to watch as her feet suddenly lifted and she tumbled down the stairs. "NO!" Matthew screamed trying to reach for her but it was far too late. Her neck snapped as she fell and the world disappeared again. He found himself back in the old house with Kassidy still sitting on the bay window. "I was supposed to meet my prince..." She said sadly. "Oh no..." Matthew said softly wishing he could do something to help her. He could feel the pain she felt and it broke his heart. But there was nothing he could do. He leaned in and hugged Kassidy, "I am so sorry Kassidy." he said as he continued to hug her. She looked up at him curiously. It was not what she expected clearly. "Maybe it happened because I was supposed to meet you... maybe you are my prince." She said with the slightest amount of hope in her voice. "No Kassidy I can't be your prince but I can be your friend." He said smiling at her hoping that would be enough. "That is not allowed." Came the voice once more from thin air.
Matthew stood up, anger filled him. He had now watched two innocent people die at the hands of this horrible being. What was going on here. "Why are you hiding? Come out and speak to me in person!" Matthew yelled at the voice. "You have yet to learn enough to meet me..." The voice said trailing off silently. Matthew glared what was that supposed to mean? He had now met three ghosts. Could there be more? There were so many questions running through his head and then the dread hit him hard. If these horrible things had happened to Kassidy and Luther what horrors was in store for him when he finally heard the story of poor little Delilah. "I'll be back soon Kassidy. I promise." He said to Kassidy. She nodded to him and then disappeared never moving from the window. He didn't have time to think he had to find Delilah. He needed to know her story if he ever hoped to leave. He had to know who the voice was and where it was coming from and why it killed everyone. "DELILAH!" He yelled as he ran out of the room looking for her in hopes to get the next part of the story.
