Warsaw, Poland 1939

Dean was sitting in his kitchen, listening to the radio with the neighbors, his head in his hands as he listened. The invasion was close, but no one thought it would be quite as close as it actually was. It was the early hours of the day, just before five in the morning. Castiel stared at dean, before looking at the floor.

"My family is going to die...Aren't they?" Castiel whispered to Dean.

"I won't let that happen." He whispered back, gently touching his friends arm. "I won't let you die."

"But what if they get me..."

"They wont."

John had started to speak, his tone was sharp, but soft at the same time. His eyes were heavy. "Alright, we have a cellar in our basement, its a little difficult to get too, but they wouldnt find it." Chuck, Castiel, and Gabriel all nodded. "Follow me. "

He led the family into the basement, Chuck with John, Gabriel with Sam, and Castiel was with Dean. The last two lingered behind a little, Cas holding onto Deans arm.

"You alright?" Dean whispered

"I'm scared, and I don't know what to do. It's simply alot of emotions, Dean..." He pauses, thinking of a better way to phrase his next sentence. "Thank you for helping me."

John inturrupted the discussion, showing that the cellar had one sink, and a couple sleeping bags and a heater.

"Just incase this war lasts longer than we thought, there's a heater. We'll get you guys blankets and sleeping bags n all that stuff. Mary is upstairs grabbing pillows." John yawns, rubbing his eyes.

4:45 am

They were again, crowded at the radio, listening. Poland had just begun being invaded by the Nazi's. Dean held his head down low, his face pale as the radio announcer announced that Germany had began bombing Poland, before cutting off into static.

Gabriel had began to speak, holding the hands of his brother and father. "We will live. The war will only last a few months, I know it."

Castiel let out a small giggle, looking over at him. "I think so too."

Everyone else agreed, and as the time passed that morning, everyone stayed together, drinking coffee and tea, whilst trying to disguise the issue at hand. They talked about dogs, and chores, and the supermarket.

The beginning of what would last six years, has just begun.
