*Zahava*
This is it. The first day of 11th grade. I wake up with haste and turn off my screeching alarm clock. 5:30 am, wow. I haven't been up this early in years. I look at the ground and stand up, slowly collecting my thoughts. I look down and stare at the pile of clothes on my floor, looking for an ounce of motivation. I hear a knock on my door. "Come in." I say quietly.
"Hey, breakfast is ready. I expect you to be downstairs in 10 minutes." My dad says sternly, giving me a glare. I just nod and look away, trying not to cause any fighting. I quickly walk to my dresser, grabbing out my uniform.
"Knee socks, a button up shirt, and a skirt, how interesting." i mutter to myself sarcastically. I quickly remove my night clothes and change into my uniform. I look at my large full body mirror and grab my hairbrush. I stare at my dark brown locks of hair, running my brush through it slowly.
"Zahava! It has been 10 minutes are you almost down here!?" I hear my dad from the kitchen yelling.
"Yes father!" I yell back, running out the door grabbing my bag in the process. I quickly run down the stairs and look at my father, who has a plate of eggs in front of him. He just points at the seat and I nod, sitting at the seat. I quietly start eating, and he glares at me.
"Be back in this house by 9 tonight, or you know what will happen." He whispers in my ear as he walks by me. I shutter and nod. "School starts soon, get there on time." He says from across the room. I nod and stand up, accidentally knocking the plate off the counter and it shatters. My eyes widen and I get an instant sense of fear. He walks over to me and stares me in the eyes.
"Im so-" I begin to say, but he raises his hand and slaps me, causing my nose to start bleeding. I begin crying lightly. He grabs me and punches my stomach, making me wince in pain. He then throws me onto the floor, one of the glass shards from the plate going into my back. I stand up slowly and look at him. "Im sorry." I say quietly.
"Good girl." he says while patting my head. "Go onto school now, and remember the curfew." He whispers to me while grabbing onto my upper leg, making me pull it away quickly. I wipe my eyes and my nose and walk out the door, closing it behind me. I begin walking down the street, holding my hand against my nose, trying to stop the bleeding.
I walk for a few minutes and arrive at the school gate, looking up, holding my nose. "Hey you okay?" I hear a stranger speaking to me from behind.
"Maxwell?" I say, turning to look behind me. He nods and grabs my hand lightly, pulling it away from my nose. The blood starts leaking out of my nose down my face.
He pulls a paper towel out of his pocket and puts it in my hand saying, "I always keep one with me, never know when you'll need it!" He chuckles lightly. I put the towel up to my nose, staring in shock. Maxwell? The school bad boy, son of a dangerous gang leader, talking to me? Of all people why me? He waves his hand in front of my face, "Hello?". I shake my head lightly and smile.
"S-Sorry. I was just wondering, why would you help me out like this?" I say quietly.
"I know it seems odd, Me the son of a gang leader being nice, but I'm actually pretty nice and you seemed like you needed help, so I helped." He says, smiling and showing his teeth. "You seem like a nice girl, wanna hang out after school?"
"Yeah sure!" I say, looking away blushing. He smiles and walks away. I walk to the nurse slowly, holding the towel over my nose. I push the door to the nurses office open slowly and walk in. "Hello Mrs Kenny." I say as I walk in the door, my office visits being frequent.
"Hello Z!" She replies, walking over to me. "Whats up?"
"You know, the usual bloody nose." I say, trying to make the situation a bit lighter. She just sighs and hands me a cotton ball and a bandage. I do the usual and put the cotton ball in my nose and put the bandage across the bridge of my nose, slowing the blood flow. "Thanks!"
"No problem, anytime!" She says as I walk out the door.
"Hey! Z!" I hear an all to familiar voice yell down the hall as I walk out. I turn around and look at the girl behind me.
"Hey Abbie!" I say, hugging her. Abbie is my best friend, and has been since I was 5. We met at a park one day and we just clicked. She's beautiful with her golden hair, her slim figure, and her ocean blue eyes.
"Ready to go?" She says, grabbing onto my arm as she speaks. I nod and we begin walking to our first class, math. As we walk down the door I wave to people as we pass by, and smile at others. Im what you could consider 'Popular' here. Most people know my name, and I'm friends with everyone! Im not one of those classic stuck up popular bitches like from 'Mean Girls', I prefer being friendly.
"Good morning ladies." Mr Young said looking me up and down, head to toe. I just nod and continue to my seat. He gives me weird vibes. I Sit in my seat as the bell rings. "Okay class." Mr Young says like he does everyday to start the lesson. I stare blankly at the board for about 20 minutes, then I feel something hit my back where the glass stabbed me earlier. I wince slightly, then pick up the crumpled piece of paper.
"You're lookin' pretty bored there.
-Max"
I smile and nod in his direction. We share smiles and glance at each other occasionally through the whole class. I hear the bell ring and I stand up, walking out of the class, Mr Young looking at me again as I walk. Max walks behind me, almost in a protective manner, glaring at Mr Young.
The rest of the day carries on as usual, occasionally talking to Max, going to class, skipping some classes with Abbie, just the usual. Then came the end of the school day. Me and Max met at the lunchroom door, then we walked outside. Now, here we are, sitting under the large oak tree. I look over to him, he's sitting scrolling on his phone. How can such a troublemaker look so calm, knowing that he is most likely in constant danger? I don't know what it is about this boy, but he's special. This new year is going to be a wild ride.

Also if you're confused about why Z talks to the staff of the school like she's been there all year, even though its the first day, its because she did summer school there! Stay safe all my lovely skeletons! See you soon!
