"Hello girlie, care to play?"

His words sent chills down my spine. I calmly stared at him, not saying a word, I studied him for any significant sign of weakness, mentally physically or verbally. Nothing. Nothing that I could see.

"You don't need to be shy, I'm a good guy, name's Sportsmaster," he looked down at Red Arrow, and smirked. "did Red Arrow tell you otherwise?"

I needed something to say, something do. I know I'm gonna hate myself for saying this. "So you're from the Justice League? Man, I remember my grandfather, um, Steve, talking about you guys, how I miss him. Anyways, I thought it was weird that that Red Arrow guy looked like a villain. Anyways, I'm Éclaire, what's your name? How did you get here in 2090? Did you figure out how to time travel? Were you fighting those people?" I gestured to the teens on the cement floor. By now I was pulling shitty answers out of my ass.

"Éclair?"

"Yeah, a lot of people inherited elemental powers after the great war of 2045, for instance, mine is lightning, Éclair is French for lightning."

"Prove it."

I was still keeping an eye on Sportsmaster, but I managed to see Red Arrow, I figured he was playing dead, but he broke character when he mouthed the words 'don't'. I smirked.

"What?" Sportsmaster's voice was loud and demanding. And there goes any chance of him actually being  a hero.

"Nothing, I just don't know if you want a demonstration..." I said, mocking him. I was getting highly annoyed.

"It'll be fine, as a hero, I've seen just about everything." His voice was sickening, he probably forced himself to say it. Looks like I'm not the only one that doing improv.

"Alright then..." remembering how Thor conjured up lightning, I quickly mimicked his actions, which was acting rightfully pissed off, which I already am at this point. To add a bit more 'umph' to the bolt I got to thinking about Thanos and my birth parents, and OH! did it work! Energy was bolting out of my hands!

"Okay, that's a good enough demonstration. Would you mind helping me put these criminals in a secure facility?" His voice was now emotionless. But he kept looking at my hands, energy still spewing towards the ground.

"Oh I'll help you!" I quickly  shot a bolt of lightning at Sportsmaster, sending him flying into another room.

Red Arrow who was now trying to get up started at me.

"What?" I said in an unknowing tone.

"You just shot a bolt of lightning out of your hands." I couldn't tell if he was excited or freaked out.

"So?Pluripotent Echoparaxia. The ability to watch and mimic others skill and or powers. Never heard of it?" At this point I was right near him, I offered him a hand and surprisingly, he took it.

"Thanks. Don't tell the others, I have a reputation to uphold of being independent." His voice was abrupt.

Well aren't you just a bundle of joy.

"You should check on your friends, I'll go see is Sportsmaster is still there." I tried to sound professional, but I failed.

I quickly walk into the room where I sent my bolt. Not a single thing in that room other than tables and chairs.

"Ah. For Fuck Sakes" I meant to say that in my head, but it came out of my mouth.

I walked out of the room Red Arrow now talking to another red head Arrow pointed my way. The other guy looked up and smiled.  And I introduced myself, "Echo. What's your codename?" I said trying to be positive, I'm terrible at making first impressions.

"Kid Flash. So, we're really in the future? Who won the super bowl this year?" Well, I wanted to say Detroit lions, but sadly, as a fan, they're going nowhere.

"Oh, that was just something I made up. You're not in the future. Nobody here has elemental powers unless a freak accident happened." I calmly explained.

Suddenly my holocommunicator rang. Hesitantly I awnered it. Steve appeared in a  slightly opaque light blue hologram, he looked worried.

"Hey Steve."

"Is everything okay? You missed your check in? Are you hurt?  What happened?" He looked frantic, I gave him a warm smile.

"Nothing happened, I took out most of the baddies with a mental blast. I'm fine, not even a scratch on me!"

"But what happened." Normally at this time I'd say something sarcastic, but I decided not to,  Steve seemed worried.

My answer was very choppy,  I didn't want to tell him that characters from DC comics were alive and in our world. But I did it anyways,  "Um, well... We have a situation... I'm gonna need a bus."

"Alright, sending one, should be there shortly. Oh! And be polite you haven't seen them in a while." He winked at he then his light blue image disappeared.

Great. Just. Great.
