"Tenley, come on! Let's go!" My sister Jenna, yelled. "You're gonna be late on your first day of school!"
"Shut up!" I was currently curling my hair because I wanted to make a good first impression.
Unfortunately for me, my mom's job had transferred her in the middle of the school year, so I was starting in November. Jenna was an eighth-grader at the local middle school, as I was a senior in high school.
I set the curling iron down and frowned at my reflection. I had been fighting with this one piece of hair, all morning. It wouldn't curl, just right. So eventually, I just gave up. I tried right?
I walked downstairs and my mom shrieked, "My babies look so beautiful! Let's take a picture! Scooch together, girls!"
We reluctantly took the picture and I drove myself to my new school.
I walked myself into the secretary's office and saw a boy with brown hair, who looked about my age, and a little bit taller than me. "But you don't understand. I don't want to show this stupid Tenley, kid around. What a stupid name, I mean, Tenley? Seriously who in their right mind names their kid Tenley?" Ouch.
"Taylor, you are showing her around, that's final. Maybe next time, you'll think about vandalizing the school, Mr. Caniff." He rolls his eyes and glances at me. My eyes quickly dart away. "Oh, hi, you must be Tenley Muller. Welcome to Ridgeway. Taylor will be showing you around today. Any questions you have, ask Taylor."
He rolls his eyes and I thank her. Taylor walks me out, well, I follow him out. "Okay, so, here's how it's gonna go, Tenley. You're gonna walk around not ask me any questions. Got it? Oh, and also, don't talk to me."
"Excuse me?" I say looking at him.
"You're not very smart, are you, Tenley. You already broke rule number one."
"I'll have you know, I lead my class back in California, both academically and physically."
"Did I ask?" He says rolling his eyes. He walks me down the hall still not daring to look at me.
"So what's your deal Mr. Too Cool for School?" I ask looking at him.
"I don't know what your expecting." He says never once turning to look at me.
"Are you part of this, cool, group that you can't be seen with anyone not in you sorority?"
"It's not a sorority, princess." I roll my eyes. "This is the gym. Where you'll eat lunch, attend assemblies, and I assume you gonna join cheerleading?"
"Hah," I laugh. "I'm not one of those plastics."
"Okay."
"I'm not."
"I believe you."
"Stop the sarcasm."
"Whatever. Get to class."
"I would, but I don't know where that is."
"Find it then." He says walking off to my left. Great. I walk around aimlessly then find it room 302. I walk in and the teacher gives me a suspicious look.
"Sorry, I got lost." I say slightly smiling.
"It's okay, what's your name?"
"Tenley, Mueller."
"Okay, you can sit in the open seat next to Taylor." I turn around and roll my eyes at the name. He does the same thing.
This is going to be a long year.

In third period I met this boy, Jack Johnson. He was really nice to me so I kinda hung out with him for a while. "You want to sit by us at lunch?"
"Sure, but, who's us?"
"There's like eight of them, I think."
"Oh, ok." I followed him down the hallway into the gym. I sat at this table with a bunch of other kids.
"Tenley, this is Carter and his girlfriend Maggie, Nash and his girlfriend Kaitlyn, Jack Gilinsky, there's two of us, and his girlfriend Leigh, Shawn and his babe Anniya, and Cameron, and Mahogany, no their not dating, Dillon, Sammy, Kian, Connor, Matt. And finally, Taylor." No!
"Hi." I say sitting down next to Johnson.
"Really?" Taylor says looking disgustedly at me.
"Hey man, lay off." Jack says looking at Taylor.
Taylor just rolls his eyes and looks away. "So what do you like to do?" Mahogany changes the subject.
"I sing, a little."
"Really? Me too." Shawn says smiling.
"Yeah, I like to skateboard too."
"Taylor likes to skateboard too." Kaitlyn says.
"Shut up." Taylor says rolling his eyes.
"Yo, dude, don't tell her to shut up." Nash says putting an arm around Kaitlyn.
Taylor, once again, rolls his eyes again. I'm surprised they don't just automatically do that. He does that pretty often.
"So how was Bio, considering that you hate that class?" Carter asks Maggie.
"I hated it, that teacher is always hassling me."
"Let me talk to him babe." Carter says kissing Maggie.
"So where are you from?" Jack G. asks me.
"California." I say taking a fry from my plate.
"Ooo, what a change," Leigh says looking at me.
"Yeah."
"Do you think you'll like it here?" Mahogany asks.
"Yeah, mostly everyone's been nice, but there's this one guy. Not the nicest person." And I am not kidding when I say this. All heads turn to Taylor. So I'm not the only one?
"What?" Taylor asks before looking away.
"Lay off her man." Nash says looking at Taylor. I'm guessing, by the tone of his voice, that these two don't way along very well.
"Whatever." Taylor says, once again, rolling his eyes.
"Does he always do this?" I blurt. "Always roll his eyes like that?" I cover my mouth. Probably not a good first impression.
"Yeah." Every either says or nods their heads.
I breath out. "Oh, ok. I thought I was the only one."
"Nope."
I smile lightly. There's the bell.
"Bye, it was nice meeting you guys."
I won't be sitting there again. As long as Taylor's there I mean. Everyone else was nice.
"Hey, Tenley, wait up." I turn around to see Cameron calling my name. "About Taylor, back there, he's always like that. Don't take it personal." He smiles uncertainly.
"Thanks Cameron." I say smiling and walking away.
~~~
Ugh, 7th period is the absolute worst. I hate the teacher and he's some old goon. Jack Gilinsky was in that class so he made it a bit more interesting. I now know what Maggie hates bio.
"Tenley!" I turn around.
"Hey Kian."
"So, how was your first day?"
"Okay. Everything seems so much smaller than in Cali."
"Yeah, I bet. Well I'll see you later! Bye!" He said getting onto the bus.
I waved back to him and got into my car. Home bound, finally.
~~~
"How was your first day girls?"
"Great! There's this boy, his name is Hayes! And he's amazing! He has these remarkably blue eyes and-"
"Wait." I cut her off.
"What?" She says looking at me weirdly.
"Is he Hayes Grier?"
"Yeah, why?"
"I know his brother." I said smirking. "I could hook you two up."
"No thank you, I know you. You'll just embarrass me."
"Oh come on Jen." I said rolling my eyes.
"What about you Ten?" My mom said looking at me.
"Fine. I met these nice boys and this one jerk. But forget him."
"That's good sweetie. I'm tired, I'm gonna go to bed." She says kissing our heads and heading upstairs.
"So, Hayes." I say smirking again.
She just rolls her eyes and puts her plate in the dishwasher.
~~~
I went upstairs and checked my phone. A text from Johnson.
Hey was just wondering what you're up to:)
So I replied:
Just got done eating, you?
I set my phone down on the nightstand and went to brush my teeth. When I came back I turned on my tv to Krisley Knows Best and crawled under my sheets and fell asleep.
