"Morning, mum!" I greeted cheerfully as I bounded into the kitchen. "What'cha making?" I jumped up onto the stool and propped my elbows up on the kitchen bench.
My mum looked over at me with a smile on her face. "Scrambled eggs. Did you want toast with yours?"
I nodded eagerly. "Yes please!"
She proceeded to pull out two slices of bread and pop them down into the toaster. "So have you got any plans today?"
Shrugging, I pulled the newspaper that was laying on the bench towards me. "I think Matt wanted me to dye his hair today, so I might be heading over to his after breakfast. I'll probably be seeing Chris and Dom aswell."
"I see." My mum said as she piled the eggs onto a plate. "I don't understand why you refuse to make friends with other girls."
I rolled my eyes as I absentmindedly flipped through the newspaper until I got to the comics. "Girls are backstabbing bitches."
My mum gave me a stern look. "Language."
"Sorry."
"Anyway," She handed me my plate of scrambled eggs, along with my buttered toast. "I'm just a little uneasy about this. You've only known these boys for a week and I haven't met them yet. Who's to say they are trustworthy?"
I raised an eyebrow at her as I scooped the eggs onto the slices of toast. "Who's to say they're not?" I took a bite and almost moaned. "This is really good by the way."
My mum smiled as she grabbed a plate of her own. "Thanks, honey. And I guess you're right."
"I always am!" I gave her a wink causing her to shake her head in amusement. "For what it's worth, I think you'd like them. They're funny guys."
She took a bite of her eggs and her eyes widened with surprise. "These are really good!"
I nodded in agreement. "Told you."
Hearing footsteps coming down the stairs, I looked over to see my dad. I must admit, he is a handsome man. The normally short brown hair on his head was abit longer than he usually had it. I could tell because it was starting to grow into it's natural curly state. One of my favourite physical features on my dad would have to be his eyes. They were a soft blue and made him look like a gentle man, which he was. Unless you annoy him while he's watching the TV. Then he's not so gentle. He was wearing a pair of jeans along with an old shirt and I almost laughed as I noticed his socks. How could I not notice them when his big toe was sticking out through one of the holes?
"Morning, Sophie." My dad came over, kissing my mum on the forehead. I smiled, loving how in love they looked after all these years. He looked over at me, giving a bright smile. "Morning, squirt."
I grinned at him. "Hey dad! You got the day off today?"
My dad worked at the hospital, so he rarely had time off. He nodded as he sat down next to my mum, grabbing his plate off breakfast. "Sure do. Your mum and I will probably head down to the shops if you want to come along?"
"She's busy today, Phil." My mum gave me a small smile. "Lizzie's hanging out with her new friends from school."
He raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really? And who might that be?"
"Matt, Dom and Chris." I stated, heaving myself off my seat and walking over to the sink to set down my plate.
My dad frowned. "All guys? Why don't-"
"Dad!" I whined, interrupting him. "Mum has already asked me why I don't make friends with girls, so please excuse me while I go and get changed."
"Oh." He stated, looking over at my mum as she gave him a wink. "Care to fill me in?"
