The ringing on the machine to my home phone was going off the hook for about an hour before I woke up. When I noticed that it simply wasn't my dream reality started kicking in. Getting up out of bed was like dragging your dog to the ground. Anyways, I finally sit on the couch and waited for the phone to ring for the thousandth time tonight.
My only thoughts to this is, why in the world are people calling and my parents aren't answering. It's pretty normal that the home phone is this active but either my mom or dad would've picked up the phone to deal with them. Regardless its not like that big of a deal it's just the fact that someone is interrupting my sleep. For a matter of fact I hate worth a passion when people disturb my sleep pattern. Finally, the person calls back and I get stopped in the middle of my thoughts so I can give them a piece of my mind for continuing to call knowing the time of night it is. How unprofessional, I really don't like people that aren't logical.
"Hello?" I asked frustrated. "Is this Miss, Ryder?" The person asked me into the phone. "Well I hope so considering I live here." I remarked. "Well I have some information that I would like to discuss with you. Is it possible that you can come to the hospital so that I can share this with you?" She asked. "Well what is this about exactly? Also, what is your name?" I question with a roll of my eyes. "My name is Dr, Evenson. It concerns your parents, Patrick and Miya. If I were you I would get here sooner rather than later. We also had a hard time reaching you. I would also like to apologize for the inconvenience of the time of call it just is urgent. I hope you understand." I sigh and go deep into my thoughts before responding.
Is my parents okay? What happened that the hospital had to call? I wonder what has happened, if one of my parents are immobile or something terrible is going on in order for lack of communication? How am I going to get there if I don't have a license? Illegally drive? Damn it. Since I don't know what is exactly going on and my thoughts are everywhere. I then decide that the best option is to drive myself and risk getting pulled over to see what may be going on with mom and dad.
"Hello? Miss, Ryder?" The voice questioned. "Sorry, I am still here. I'm getting ready to head over to see what this is all about. Thank you for calling and letting me know about this situation. See you when I get there so we can discuss this further." With that I hang up the phone. Directly afterwards I urgently get my shoes on and run into the kitchen and grab a set of keys to one of the many cars that my family owns.
I really wonder what happened...Is it something bad? Maybe good? Ugh, I hate not knowing the uncertainty it's a killer.
Grabbing my cellphone I call my best friend, Vaughn. "Hello?" His husky voice answered. "My parents are in the hospital and I don't know what happened to them. All they told me was to come right away. They called so many times and I thought it was my dream! What if something horrible happened? What will I do? I am only 17 with just my parents!" I say into the phone in panic. "Em talk slower. I will meet you there. Also I am sure it's nothing. It's probably a prank or something. Just drive safe and with a clear head." He says while there is rustling on the other side of the phone. "They made it sound super serious. You don't know what or how they sounded." I mutter. "Hold up, are you driving? You don't have a license. Don't leave yet I'll pick you up." Vaughn said with even more rustling in the background. "It's kinda late for that. I am more than half way there." I mention. "I'll meet you there."
Vaughn hangs up.
I'm left alone in the dark with just myself and traitorous thoughts. What will happen? What is going on?
