((TW: SLIGHT HOMOPHOBIA))
Sarah woke up, annoyed, at the screeching of her alarm clock. Damn thing sounded like one of her ex-girlfriend's, she laughed to herself at the thought. As she got ready for the day, she made the bold decision to wear one of her favorite shirts. A pride shirt, she thought back to the day she got it.
"Hun, open this one!" Her aunt smiled, handing little 14 year old Sarah a box. Excited, she tore it open, tears of happiness springing to her eyes. Inside was a shirt that said 'The World Has Bigger Problems Than Boys Who Kiss Boys And Girls Who Kiss Girls.' Her aunt smiled, knowing she would be happy to be assured she accepted her for who she was. Her aunt was after all, the one Sarah went to after her "loving" parents kicked her out. She started to cry, hugging her aunt and cousins.
She shook her head, trying to refocus her attention on her makeup, she had lightly curled her hair, and cuffed her overall jeans, tucking in the shirt. Her aunt Lacey's chirpy voice sounded through the thin walls, "Sarah, my Lemon Boy, hurry up! I'm almost ready to leave!" ((A/N: If you get that reference you are my child)) Sarah laughed, sliding down the staircase railing. She earned a soft glare from Lacey, but they both burst into fits of laughter as they prepared for their days. Soon Sarah hopped into her small broken down sedan, she had almost died in it a couple times, much to Lacey's fright. As she drove to the school, she sang along to her playlist, full of Dodie, cavetown, and Billie Ellish songs. Sarah looked out at her new school, it was rather big, and somewhat intimidating.
She parked in a section of the lot where it was visible to everyone that passed, and got out of the car. "Good morning, time to start the day! C-C-C-C'mon. C-C-C-C'mon! Go! Go!" She sang lightly, getting looks of confusion, bordering on annoyance, but she didn't care in that moment. The beginning of the day went rather smoothly, at lunch, she sat near a large group of barbie-doll looking girls, hearing random tidbits of who cheated on who, the parties thrown during the summer, and things like that. About 15 minutes later, she saw a rather scary looking person enter the area, shooting freshmen death glares.
The edgy nightmare walked over to a corner and sat on the table, soon being accompanied by a jock and blonde. Sarah studied them, before the jock glanced at her, and she quickly looked away. She found herself drawing the plastics, and felt a hot breath go down her neck. Surprised, Sarah shot her head over to the source, finding a bulky sophomore staring at her. "Why're you drawing the plastics?" He questioned, his voice soft and creamy, the opposite of how he looks, "Hm...? Oh. Oh. Oh. Well, I don't actually know... Uh- I-I'm MacNamara, Sarah MacNamara," she chuckled lightly at her reference. "Fitzgerald, Michael Fitzgerald. Can I sit here?" Michael sent a soft smile her way, eliciting a nod from her, "Your jacket is really cool," Sarah pointed to his jacket, "Really? I got it for being M.V.P. in the championship for football, you can wear it if you want..." Michael took his jacket and put it on Sarah, starting to laugh at how big it is on her, "Wh- Hey! Its not my fault jocks are so ripped!" She giggled, standing up, the sleeves hanging off her hands, the jacket going down to her thighs, "Its not my fault that you're so teeny-tiny and short, like a ga-nome!" He laughs harder, tears bubbling at his eyes.
A couple girls from the plastic table began to stare at them, making Sarah grow uneasy. "Hey, wanna go outside? I know a cool place I hang out with my friends." Eager to leave, Sarah ran with him onto a hill, his big jacket flying like a cape behind her. Michael tackles a tall guy, and a quiet, scrawny girl sits in a tree, reading. "Do you ever shut up Fitzgerald?" She smiles, throwing her book at him, hitting Sarah. She let out an 'Oof' as she rolled down the slope, leaving the three students staring at her. She laid there, before feeling a sticky substance run down her face, "Well shit. I'm bleeding," she began to laugh lightly, standing up. "What? I'm not dying, it was just a missed shot!" She laughed a little harder seeing their horrified faces, "Wait... am I dying?" Michael sighs, "Well, that's one way to introduce you to my friends. Sarah, this is Harper, Harper Davis," he points to the very embarrassed girl who assaulted her with a book, "And this dumbass is Kris, Kris West." The tall boy he had tackled waved as she wiped the blood off her face. "Nice to meet you both!" She smiled, plopping onto the hill before seeing the threes faces' twist in fear, she followed their gazes and saw the edgy nightmare themself walking towards them, "Harper.exe has stopped working, reboot. Rebooting in progress, Reboot complete, NOW GO!" Harper full on sprinted away to a different part of the school, leaving Kris and Michael moving slowly in front of Sarah, in an attempt to hide her, "Sarah... run. Go find Harper, just... hurry!" Michael looked at her, urging her to leave, but, she didn't move. "No, why should I be scared? There's no valid reasoning behind it. So no, I'm not going to leave you guys alone with... whoever this... Edgy nightmare is." Sarah barked at them, pushing them aside and stepped forward, looking at the person who had approached her already beloved friends, "And what are you two doing out here?" Kris cleared his throat, "Well, we got tired of hearing who fucked who in the cafeteria, so we ran off, and here we are," he looked at the intimidating angsty child who pouted, "With this... geek? Really West? I'd expect more from you, Fitzgerald." Sarah gritted her teeth, and just lost it.((A/N: So here's the first chapter!
