Macy's POV
after a ridiculously long and exhausting trip, I arrived in Washington D C. I just stepped out off the bus and stood on the other side of street from the adress that was in the notebook. I had been looking over my shoulder the entire journey. I kept having the feeling that someone was following me. I ran across the road to the adress. it was getting dark and I didnt want to be on the street. I felt really unsafe. I rang the doorbell for the apartment with his initials on the nametagg. no answer.. I was afraid of that.. I checked my phone for the time. 20:43 PM. who could possibly still be working at this hour?!
then the door buzzed and opened. thank god! he was home. or so I thought. I came into the building. I hid the notebook in my coat. an old lady came down the stairs. "well hello dear! mister Reid isnt here but I couldnt leave you there in the dark. you look exhausted. mr Reid doesnt get many visitors." she stopped a the bottom step and signaled for me to come with her. she looked friendly and sweet so I followed her up the stairs. halfway up, she pointed at a gray door. "that is mister Reids room. my room is above his." we climbed up the flight of stairs and came to her apartment. it was cozy and cute. lots of antiquities. "shall I take your coat, dear? why dont you go sit by the heater and I will fetch you a cup of something warm." she already stretched her hands out to grab my coat. but I closed it firmly, as I sign that I was going to give to her. she smiled. "thats okay dear. you can keep it on you if you prefer that." she might mean no harm but i wasnt going to let the notebook out off my sight. i sat down in a big chair that was facing a small heater close to one of the few windows in the apartment. when the old lady disappeared into the kitchen, I shoved the curtens aside. there wasnt much to see, the streets were deserted.
as I stared at some street lights, the phone rang. "hello, yes she is. hold on." that was all I heard from the conversation because the old lady had gone to the hallway to finish the phonecall. my hands were starting to sweat.. the people who are looking for me must already know i am here. I had to leave now! the old lady came back to the kitchen and put down the phone. she smiled at me. I stood up and ran towards the door. she tried to stop me but she didnt stand a chance. I was running down the stairs, I nearly tripped because of my speed. I busted the door open and ran as fast as I could. I kept running untill I couldnt breathe. I stepped into an alley and checked if no-one was following me. when I saw nothing suspicious, I went back on the sidewalk and started walking again. I grabbed the notebook from my coat and looked at the adress and name. if he is still working, I could try to find him there! I found the initials FBI at the bottom of the page. someone clearly tried to remove them but didnt do a very good job. so I had to get myself to the FBI office. I searched for a main road to get a taxi.
I found a main road and got a taxi after an hour. the driver told me he couldnt take me any closer than a street away from the building. the driver was kind to me. he didnt want a payment. he said it was for free this once because I shouldnt be out at this time. when I got out he called out for me : "hey are you sure this is where you wanna go? I could take you to a hotel or something?" I shook my head and thanked him for the drive. "okay, well I hope you find what youre looking for." he said before speeding off. "so do I..." I whispered to myself. I walked I the direction the taxidriver told me to go. I ended up in front off a huge office building. according to the taxidriver, this should be it. the lights were out.. there was a very small chance he was here. I tried to open the door it was locked. it loik deserted... I was all out of ideas on what to do or where to go. I decided to wait here for him. I crawled to a dark corner and curled up in a ball. I tried to keep my eyes open but I was so tired, I fell asleep almost instantly...
