"Ah fuck." Ashley swore as her nail flew off. "How do you manage to not chip your nails?"
I looked down at my hands laughing. My nails were always cut short during the season. I didn't want to risk somehow hurting myself on the ice.
"Emma!" A voice came yelling across the library. The librarian glared at my best friend Matt as he sat with us. "Studying?" He asked after apologizing to the librarian. I nodded laughing. His cheeks were red as if he ran the whole way here. The messy brown curls that covered his head was crazier than usual.
"Did the cast list come out yet?" Asked Ashley.
"Cast list?!" Me and Matt doubled over in laughter. "Do you mean the teams? Did the team lists come out yet?"
Ashley sighed and rolled her eyes "You hockey geeks are weirdos. Let's go see what team you both got on." We ran out the library giggling at Ashley running behind us. "Matt! Emma! Wait!" She stopped and took a couple of dead breaths while panting. Evaluations had just ended 4 days ago and we wanted to see if we made the triple A team.
The triple A team is the best you can be. It's almost impossible as a freshman, but playing with juniors and seniors was too good to be true.
We slid to a stop at the bulletin board posted outside the school rink. We skimmed the girls teams, but my name was nowhere to be found. I sighed realizing that I hadn't even made any team.
Matt let out a sound that seemed impossible for any guy his age to make. He yanked my arm and pointed at the boys list.
