-Your POV-
I'll never forget when it happened. It was in the mid-80's, Piers and I had just started college the year before. Summer was just starting, and we decided to join a few other friends on a camping trip. There would be 6 of us in total. Piers and I were the last to join in, but I knew Jake was bringing his girlfriend along. Cause, those two weren't TOO cliché. Jake was practically the star athlete, even in high school. And "his girl" Sherry had been a cheerleader since I'd known her. Aside from them, Chris was bringing Jill along. From what Piers had told me, they'd been together as long as he'd known Chris.
The morning of the trip, we packed up the jeep and hit the road. We got a 7am start, and we were still driving when it started to get dark.
(Y/N): "Just admit it, Piers, we're lost."
Piers: "We're not lost, I just lost track of which way we're supposed to be going."
I rolled my eyes.
(Y/N): "Translation: we're lost. AND, it's hot as hell."
Piers: " Yeah well, at least we're camping out near a lake."
(Y/N): "Oh great, now when I get bored with smores and campfire songs, I can go drown myself."
Piers: "Oh lord, here we go. Y'know, you shouldn't joke about that. There's a rumor going around in this area. Kind of an urban legend."
(Y/N): "Oh yeah?"
Piers: "Apparently. Chris was telling me about it before we left. Supposedly, it happened a few years ago. The cook that worked at a camp near where we're going had a son. He was...Let's just say, 'different'. He wasn't supposed to be left alone, or allowed to swim on his own. She was working, and thought he was being watched. Little did she know, the counselors were having their own fun."
(Y/N): "Meaning..."
Piers: "They were in bed together instead of watching him. He went into the water, went too far out. He started calling for his mother to help him, but...But by the time she got out there, it was too late. He'd already drowned. Needless to say, she was devastated. Not long after that, she snapped."
(Y/N): "Snapped how?"
Piers: "If you'd stop interrupting, you'd find out."
(Y/N): "Ok ok, geez."
Bossy as always.
Piers: "The camp closed down for a while. Few years later it opened again. She came back...Started killing off the counselors. Eventually, she got what people thought she had coming."
(Y/N): "What do you mean?"
Piers: " 'Bout a year or so back, they reopened the camp again. Then, counselors started 'disappearing'. Including the new cook, she never made it to the camp. Soon, it was down to one counselor. She ran into Mrs. Voorhees when she was trying to escape. Didn't take long for her to realize mommy dearest wasn't what seemed. She chased the girl all over the camp, ending up by the edge of the lake. When Mrs. Voorhees came at her and tried to kill her, she had no choice. The was a machete on the ground that Mrs. Voorhees attacked her with. She grabbed it, swung it...And sliced Mrs. Voorhees' head off."
(Y/N): "Holy shit."
Piers: "Want the REALLY scary part?....They say her son, Jason, didn't really drown. That he saw his mother get decapitated. He'd be an adult by now. And if what people say is true, he never left his camp."
(Y/N): "Does this death-trap of a camp have a name, or is it all bullshit?"
Piers: "It picked up the name 'camp blood', for obvious reasons. But, it used to be 'Camp Crystal Lake'. And, it's on the same lake we're gonna be on."
(Y/N): "Ok, I don't know if you were just trying to freak me out, but you managed to anyway."
*small timeskip*
It was about two hours later when we got to the campsite, and that story was still giving me chills.
Chris: "Hey, was wondering if you were gonna show up. What took so long?"
(Y/N): "The genius over here got us lost."
Jake: "THAT figures."
Yeah, fun little fact I forgot to mention...Piers and Jake kinda....Hate each other's guts. One of the reasons I wondered why Piers wanted to come in the first place.
Piers: "We didn't get lost! I got us here, didn't I?"
(Y/N): "Fair enough. Hey, call it a rushed question but, anyone else hungry? I skipped breakfast this morning."
Chris: "Yeah, I got here early so, I set up the grill."
(Y/N): "Alright Chris, way to pull through. By the way, where's Jill? I didn't see her car when we pulled up."
Chris: "She couldn't make it. You know her, camping isn't really her thing."
Sherry: "Looks like it's just you and me (Y/N)."
(Y/N): "Oh...Great."
I did my best but, pretty sure I wasn't as subtle as I'd hoped. To be honest, I had nothing against Sherry. She was just the type to always be so...Chipper.
Jake: "Any chance that grill has a few burgers ready yet?"
Chris: "Not yet, I was busy setting up. How about you two set up your tent, and I'll get on those burgers?"
Piers: "Sounds good to me."
(Y/N): "Same here."
Sherry: "Alright, need us to help at all?"
Piers: "Pretty sure we can handle it. Thanks though."
If I'm totally honest, I'm not the 'camping' type. But I knew Piers wanted to go, and he asked me to go with him...I love him, how could I say no? Besides...What's the harm? Not gonna kill me to spend a couple days in 'the great outdoors'
