I'm Sorry

"Ready to go back to the party?"

"You shouldn't have come with me."

She took his hand. "I'd go anywhere with you. I love you." She sighed.

He scoffed. "You deserve better. I don't deserve your love." He threw back his third scotch since they got to the bar.

"Well too bad, it's yours. Push me away all you want, but you can't change how I feel about you. I love you, Zack. I have feelings for you that won't go away no matter what you say or do, but don't kill yourself. Please." Her eyes filled with tears at the thought of losing someone whom was so important to her. "I couldn't take it if you ever killed yourself. I'd be a wreck. I know you don't think it would matter. I know you think that everyone would be better off without you, but I'm telling you I would not."

Zack looked up from his drink over to the girl he never thought he would have a chance with, but he had her.

"I love you too, Bailey. I'm sorry." He hung his head in shame, but she lifted it and kissed his lips. "I didn't take my meds, before coming here. I'm sorry."

Bailey sighed. "Why not?"

Zack frowned. "I don't know. I didn't want- I didn't want to ruin Maddie's wedding, but I also didn't want to mix my meds and drinking. I should have just taken them and not drink for a while, but I chose to drink instead."

Bailey leaned her head against his shoulder. "Well you're already getting drunk so taking them now would be bad, but if you feel like standing in the road or jumping off the roof or something just let me know, okay? Just tell me and we'll leave. Okay?"

Zack nodded and leaned his head against hers. "Okay. We can go back now. I think I'll be okay." He smiled. "As long as I have you everything is okay. Better than okay. It's amazing."

"You're amazing, Zack."

"You're amazing too, Bails."

They stood up, Zack leaning against Bailey, and walked out to the car. She took the keys and drove them back to the reception of Maddie's wedding.

"Zack! Thank god!" Maddie rushed forward to hug him when he came back into the building. "Don't ever do that again!" She said smacking him.

He chuckled. "Ow. I won't. I'm sorry."

Maddie smiled at him then she frowned. "Hey, uh, your mom came."

Zack wrapped his arm around Bailey and she kissed his cheek. "Okay."
