Travis

Today is my first day of high school.

Yes I know, ugh.

I was currently seated in the coffee shop at the corner of my street sipping a cup of hot coffee as I waited for my school to start. I needed to be energized for the day.

I hated people, I had no friends and my parents practically disowned me when I came out as bisexual last year of middle school. Currently I lived with my sister and her fiancé, a temporary agreement till I could finish high school and get the fuck out of this dreaded city.

I stared blankly as people came and left, not a single person acknowledging my presence.

I felt almost invisible.

But I was used to this, I had been treated this way for most of my life, even the cashier that saw me everyday pretended like she didn't know I existed.

I let out a deep sigh, sinking into my chair and taking a gulp of my now cold coffee.

The cafe was quiet for a few minutes after the last few customers rushed off to work. It was only half past eight in the morning though, so I still had about thirty minutes to spare before my first class.

My phone vibrated, alerting me that I had a text message. I opened it to see it was from my sister.

'Have a great first day! And remember to call if you need anything, Xavier wishes you good luck too! :)'

I smiled before closing the text, sometimes Tiffany treated me like I was her son, always fussing over me like a mother would. I appreciated it because she was all I had after my parents kicked me out and she was with me through my battle with depression. Her fiancé Xavier was also a pretty awesome guy, he looked after me like I was his own younger brother but always respected my boundaries. They made a great couple and I was happy for them.

The loud jingle of the bell attached to the door alerted me that a new customer had just arrived.

I looked up to see a boy with golden hair slicked back, accompanied with sharp grey eyes, a defined jawline, tanned skin and full pink lips. He was also dressed head to toe in a private school uniform that belonged to the school that all the preppy kids went to and looked disinterestedly at his surroundings. He had two body guards behind him and he whispered something to one of the before going to take a seat at the far end of the cafe. One of his bodyguard followed him while the other walked up to the lady at the counter who was already drooling over him and placed an order. I scoffed looking at the boy, what a spoiled brat, he couldn't even place his own order.

I also didn't recognize him, meaning he was probably new in town.

I squeezed up my now empty cup and threw it into the trash can.

I walked up to the counter and left a tip in the tip jar. The lady barely even looked at me and didn't even offer a thank you.

I contemplated whether to take the tip back but I wasn't yet that level of petty and decided to be the bigger person.

I walked out of the cafe and took in a breath of fresh air, my new school was right opposite the cafe which I was every grateful for because it meant I could complete my morning ritual of getting a coffee everyday without worrying about being late.

I had barely taken two steps away from the cafe before someone grabbed my arm.

I turned around to see the blonde boy staring at me intrigued, his eyes had a familiar look like he had just seen his long lost friend.

"Uhhh.... can I help you bro?" I asked pulling my hand out of his grasp.

"I know you" he whispered with a slight Irish accent. That familiar look still on his face.

I stared at him warily, for all I know he could be an FBI agent sent to track me or a private investigator hired my my parents.

Either that or he was batshit crazy.

Maybe he regularly harassed strangers and that was why he needed him bodyguards to keep
him in check.

"Well sorry bud, but I don't know you" I replied taking a few steps back.

His bodyguards, who had caught up to us,  looked just as confused as me.

" sir please go back inside and finish your doughnuts, we need to drop you off at school in approximately ten minutes" one of the body guards told him but his eyes were still trained on me.

" do you not know who I am?" He asked softly , an air of innocence crossing over his beautiful features "you are Travis right?"

I nodded taking a few more steps back, now realizing that he knew my name.

Which was very creepy.

"How the hell do you know my name ?" I asked harshly with a glare.

He still stared at me fondly, a smile on his lips " I'm Kyle" he said like that was supposed to ring any bells .

"Okay dude, I'm sorry but I don't know who you are" I told him slowly hoping it would sink in this time "you've got the wrong guy"

Maybe he had an imaginary friend named Travis he used to play with as a child.

"How could you not-"

"Sir," one of his bodyguards caught him off " I don't think this young man knows who you are and you're making him uncomfortable"

Kyle nodded without glancing back at him, " my apologies" he said to me his eyes closing off, going back to the emotionless eyes I saw when he first got into the cafe.

He curtly turned around and walked back into the cafe without a backward glance and his guards hurried after him. One of them turning back to give me an apologetic smile, which I waved off.

Well, that was weird, if I ever see that guy again I may need to get a restraining order, the guy clearly wasn't right in the head.

I shrugged turning away to head towards the schools campus.

What a weird day.
