The days progressed, and Troy and Ivy hadn't really seen each other much, except once at the grocery store. Until...
"Oh hey, Ivy."
"Troy! Hey! How are you?"
They really hadn't expected to see each other here... The tattoo shop.
"I'm fine... Why are you here?" He asked
"I'm with my brother... He's getting something done for his 18th birthday. It was before Christmas, but our mom wouldn't hear of him having a tattoo at family dinner on Christmas Day... So yeah... Why are you here?"
"My cousin works here."
"And...?"
"Actually he's trying to get me a job."
"Are you a tattoo artist?"
"Nope. I have my piercing license."
"Seriously?" Without meaning to, Ivy had become sort of defensive. She didn't judge Troy, it was just unexpected.
"Yeah, seriously. Why? What's wrong?"
"No, nothing! You just didn't strike me as that type... That's all. Why do you even have your license at all?"
"Well my ex girlfriend wanted to pierce her belly button, and I told her I didn't trust any guy around her except myself. So, she helped me get it so I could pierce her belly button."
"Well that's... Interesting. But wait, I thought you had to be 18?"
"Why don't we just think of it as a learner's permit." Said Troy with a sarcastic smile.
Just then, Luke walked around the corner. Ivy couldn't see any visible place he had just gotten a tattoo. He wouldn't tell her what he was getting, or even where. He was stubborn like that.
"You realize I'm gonna see it at some point, right Luke?"
He rolled his eyes and lifted up his shirt, revealing his left pectoral was wrapped up. He undid the bandage to show a fox. It wasn't traditional. It was walking to the other side of his chest, looking very determined. He then explained, that when he got married, he would finish it with a white fox on the other side, walking in the opposite direction, and then add a fox for every child they had. Even though he was rebellious, he was really sweet deep down.
"That looks awesome." Troy chimed in.
"Yeah, I think so." Luke answered. "Who is this Ivy?"
"Oh, just my new friend Troy. This is my brother Luke."
"Alright then... Ivy, go wait in the car while i pay please."
Ivy obeyed, but this was strange for her. Her brother had never really been the protective type.
"I know who you are, Troy."
"Who? I'm Troy Benson."
"We'll see." With this, Luke turned on his heel and walked out the door.
