Kaya is my hero. She is stopped me from suicide and brought me out of a deep state of depression. Without her I am basically nothing!
"Are you alright," Kaya asked, bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Oh, yeah I'm fine... Just thinking," I replied .
"About?"
" Uh, homework, schoolwork, quizzes, y'know, the average," I lied.
"Okay hun, I gotta go, you coming?"
" Nah my mom's picking me up today, " I signed
"Ugh, but you're fourteen,"
" and need I remind you of last year, " I exclaimed
Kaya audibly shuddered.
"Yeah, no, please don't, peace," She hopped on her bike.
I watched as she rode away, her beautiful black hair blowing softly in the breeze.
"Emily?" My mom asked from behind me.
"Yeah, yeah I'm coming" I grabbed my bag and glanced at Kaya one last time, and as I did, I helplessly watched as a car slammed into her and she lay in a puddle of her own blood, unmoving.
