Chapter 1

Lee's P.O.V.
Before I woke up in this hospital bed the last thing I remebemer is a gun being held to my chest.
Me and my parents were walking back to the car for celebrating the big win with the rest of the hockey team. It was dark and kinda chilly that night.

"Lee do your jacket up" my mom told me
" Mom I'm fine it's just to the car" I guestered to the parking lot just behind the restaurant.
"That's all it takes"
"Lee just do you up you coat" dad said
"Fine" I reached down to tug my coat together when I feel a strong grasp around my arm and I was pulled towards a man with a gun.
Money now!" The man yelled as the gun pushed deeper into my chest
"Ok, ok here" my dad handed the man his wallet watch and cufflinks" the man took them as my mom took all her jewelery off and handed the bunch with her purse
"You'll- you'll let him go now right"
"No" the man said I felt the gun leave my chest and heard a blast go off and my dad dropped to the ground blood spilling from his chest then another blast and mom was laying on top of him her white dress slowly becoming pink from blood. I screamed
"Mom, dad"
"Thanks bud for being a such a good hostege" I don't know how but when I felt the gun back on my chest I must of twisted or something because when the gun went off for the third time in my own chest I felt these incredible pain as I fell to the ground
I must have blacked out from blood loss. When I opened my eyes I was sitting in this hospital bed in a gown. Hooked up to all these tubes. I tried to move but I let out a cry as a intense pain shot threw my body starting from my chest. Nurses ran in checking if I was alright but all I could think of was my parents.
"Where's my mom, my dad" then I saw the look on the nurse's faces and it told me everything they where gone tears fell from my eyes. I only stoped when the doctor came in"
"Well Lee you are a very lucky young man the bullet should have killed you it was point blank" all I could do was stare at him lucky I didn't feel lucky I was an orphan both my parents where dead nothing would be the same.

I didn't here a word the doctor said untill
"That being said I don't like saying this but your parents are dead so your next of kin your Ant Liz will be taking custody of you seeing as you are still a minor." I nodded and the doctor waved to someone outside.
I saw my ant walk in
"Oh Lee" she rushed over and have me a hug

"Ugh ow, Liz" I grunted as the pain shot threw my chest
"Oh my, sorry sorry" she quickly backed away from me I breathed in realaife

"You'll be fine to go with her at the end of the week. He told me

"I'll have a room all set up for you is there anything you need from home?" She asked me

"Umm my laptop phone charger, where is my phone?" I asked I was kind of out of it I wanted to talk to Alex.

"Yeah ok I'll go get them and here they gave it to me" Liz reached into her front pocket and pulled out my phone.

"Can I be alone for a bit" they nodded and left the room

I turned my phone on it was at 50%

"Hey I need to talk" I text Alex I stare at the phone. Then it beeps.

"Sure where r u" he texts back

"Hospital" I tell him

"What why what happened" as I read is words I could tell he was panicking

"I'll tell u when u get here"
"Ok I'll be right over" I put the phone down on the table next to the bed. I laid my head back on to the pillow I must have fallen asleep. the next thing I know I hear a knock on my door window and its slowly opened. I see Alex's dirty blond and blue eyes. we looked like we could be brothers same eye colour my hair was just slightly lighter than his.

"What happened last night after dinner?, and where's your parents shouldn't they be here?" I just stared at him I guess they didn't tell him yet.

"they're, they're.... dead" I hadn't said it or had it sunk in. I felt as a tear ran down my eye.

"what?" he sat down in the chair beside the look on his face told everything he was in shock.

"last night we where mugged the guy grabbed me on the way to the parking lot. After he got what he wanted he shot them then me." he was obviously speechless.

"whoa, .... um now what?" I didn't know.

"I'm living with my Ant Liz. its close to my house so ill be able to go to the same school." I told him wanting to say something.

"That's not what I meant but ok, I'm here you know. Any way when are they letting you out of here anyway" I knew what he meant, he meant what am I going to do not where I was going to go.

"At the end of the week Ant Liz is bringing  me some stuff I should problem text her to bring some clothes so I'm not in a dress for a week." I wince as I reach for my phone

"you ok?"

"yeah I got shot remember it hurts" I grab the phone finally, I'm breathing heavy from the effort it took.

" hey can you get me some clothes"

"don't want to be in dress for a week" I text her

"lol sure comfy stuff?" she texts back she is trying to light

"yeah t shirt an tack pants" I send to her. I put the phone back down this time closer to me

"ok so do you want to talk or do you need a distraction?" he asked know that I need time to process and I would talk when I was reedy

"distraction" I tell him I just want something I was use to and that was alex

"ok lets see" he looked around the room then his eyes fell on the T.V "You have a tv in here"

"I do? I just woke up like 3 hours ago" he started to look around for the remote

"where could it be" I watch him as he checked cabinets and draws on the opposite side of the room,

"um check the night stand over here, you know on the side that the patient would be?"

"right" he turned around and pointed at the night table "that would make since" he opened the top draw "here it is" he sat back down and turned it on.
We sat there in silence watch the tv.
Then a comusal came on it was for a family restaurant the mother and father sat at the table with dilshish looking food the son was laughing and smiling it looked like the dinner we had the night they died. A year ran down my cheek then another and another. Alex looked over i must have been sobbing. I closed my eyes
"They're gone" I took a shake breath in and let out a sob I felt arms go around and i was being squeezed it hurt my chest but I didn't care.
"It's going to be ok I don't know how but I will."

"I'll never see them again I don't know what I'm going to do" I signed in to his shoulder

He pulled away from me and looked me dead in the eye.
"Well you do one of two things ether you sit here crying and deperst or when you get out of here you make an effort to help so the lesse amount of people feel the way you do."

I just started at him as I whipped the tears off my check with the back of my hand.

"I have to go the doctor is waving me out, think about it I get that your wold is crumbbling around you right now but maybe you can help save someone from feeling that way." I sat there as I heard him leave the room and looked up when the door shut. That's when I see my ant comeing to the door I quickly whipped away any remaining tears and carefully layed back down
"I got everything you asked for I also grabbed a bunch of your clothes and dropped them off at my place."
"Thanks Liz" I open the bag and see pants "can you ask if I can put my pants on it feels weird "

She smiled "sure kido" she steps out and I see her talk to the doctor and see him nod and she pops her head in "pants yes but no shirt could top the stitches"

"Got it" I smiled and she closed the blind leaving me to put the pants on
